Congrats. I bought a p85d listed in LA and picked it up at bueno park without being charged any transportation fee. You should be able to do it. That sounds a like a steal

Deposit placed.

2015 P85D 51,400. 54K Miles. Red exterior. Black extended leather. Tech pkg. 21” wheels.

Super excited. The car is located in San Diego, will they transfer it to Buena Park for me?

Also, when will they contact me to arrange details? I hope it’s soon lol!! So excited !!

Awesome !!! I hope that is the case as Buena Park is just a few minutes from me !

How long did you have to wait after you left the deposit until your Tesla was available?

Yeah! I think it was a great day and a great starter Tesla for me !!

I got a called within 5 days. My deposit was placed on a Saturday and received a phone call from a rep in Vegas on Wednesday the following week. Pick up within 2 weeks from there.

Keep me posted and let me know if you run into any issues.

I was going to comment that you should just get the P85D and save some money, but since you already did that, I’ll just say I think you made a good choice, I just bought a P85D and I would say unless you’re going to the track or want bragging rights it would be hard to get a benefit out of the ludicrous mode on the street. The thing is so much fun even my wife liked it.

Who did you call? I have been trying to call but the delivery advisor never answer and her emailing is very slow, about 1 day for a simple response. I've asked via Email and have been instructed it is going to be $2,000 to transfer from San Diego to Buena Park.

I then asked about the ETA and they said currently they have to first locate the vehicle and then once they locate it, transfer to San Diego, and then they will call me when it is ready. The estimate was 7-10 days. I would have loved for them to have it transferred to Buena Park as it is only a 20 minute drive from me. San Diego isn't bad, I can make it a road trip, just I would hate for any issues to occur after making the 2+ hour drive.

I called the person who emailed me before I put the deposit my “used vehicle sales advisor”, the general tesla number
(888) 518-3752 and my “Inside Delivery Advisor, Remarketing”. I don’t know if any of that helped, but it can’t hurt.

Appreciate both of you for this, I will try calling on Monday.

I called the person whom emailed first 5x over the last few days and it always goes to voicemail. Did you guys leave a voicemail and get a call back.

Update, called the general Tesla # and talked to a really cool guy who gave me much more info then either delivery assistant had given me. The car is currently at Manheim Oceanside awaiting transport to San Diego, and he put in the notes to see if they can transport it to Buena Park instead of SD, but he said more then likely they will not. I asked if I could switch my delivery assistant and he said unfortunately, I can't.

Current status; 6 days in, still waiting for the finalized contract / documents so I can get a cashiers check, and no ETA for pickup.

Update!!

CAR IS READY FOR PICKUP!!! My delivery specialist contacted me and said my car is in San Diego and ready for pickup. I scheduled for this Sunday at 10AM. Can't wait! I am still waiting for them to generate the purchase agreement so I can get a cashiers check for the full account.

Does anyone have a delivery checklist that they can email over to me? I've found a few but not sure which one to use. I am very new to Tesla and have only driven one once over a year ago.

Thank you!

You picked the right time and day to drive to SD. Friday and Saturday are horrible going southbound, Sunday is much lighter but traffic starts to pile up northbound around noon. Good luck, I just picked up our used Tesla from Tempe, Az last week. I was in and out of the delivery center in less than an hour. I'd say:
1) Check out out all the doors, look along the panel gaps, and check the powered accessories.
2) Make sure you can login through the app and Slacker radio, make sure you can Supercharge (should be reflected on your Tesla account online after the sale goes through).
3) Check the tire treads and pressure, get acclimated with the navigation system/infortaintment before driving off, and drive around the block with the audio on mute before you drive home.

The car should be under warranty and you should write up a list of items to be corrected. Mine has a low coolant warning when parked on a steep incline and the rear defroster seems to not activate.

CPO Experience/Process December 2018

I work in Long Beach, but live in LA so I am very used to the heavy traffic times. I am planning on leaving early Sunday Morning, it should be a 2hour drive and then pick up the car and head to the San Diego Safari Park for a few hours with some friends, hopefully is is a trouble free day!

I'll be sure to physically inspect the car, but like you said it is a CPO so if I have any issues I should be able to have them fixed. I am more concerned with things like what adapters / how many should I receive? And how can I verify that supercharging is enabled as I will have to supercharge 1-2x during my trip back.

Will they give me service history during pickup? Also, did you need insurance on the Tesla prior to drive off or did you just upload your current auto policy?

I can't wait to get my car, I think I got a great deal, fingers crossed on the condition!

1) Adjust your expectation. The car is not CPO, it is used with a warranty. I think Tesla either got tired of refurbishing used cars or they needed to compete with the general 3rd party sales. It seems like dropping "CPO" and going "Used" allowed them to drop the selling price. Still, the warranty covers the major items of the car and I would expect 95% of the car should be in proper working order.

2) My MS85 came with the mobile charging unit, adapter for standard NEMA 5-15, adapter for NEMA 14-50, & J1722 adapter. The latter is very valuable for me as I use a Juicebox to charge both the Tesla and our Fiat 500e.

3) Ask them to make sure Supercharging is enabled, I'm sure they can verify on the Delivery Center. It should also appear on your Tesla account online after the car is paid for and registered.

4) They wouldn't give me the vehicle history but so I will follow up with at the service tech when I get the coolant and rear defroster looked at. I will ask about previous recall history but nothing came up under Autocheck.

5) I did not need to officially add the Tesla prior to drive off. I believe Ca has a 15 day grace period for insured policyholders. Just the upload of your current proof of insurance was enough...and I bought the car in Arizona. I added the Tesla to our insurance yesterday and expect to pay $1,400 a year for insurance with $2,500 deductible/comprehensive/collision. I got quotes from GEICO and Progressive. While the insurance for the Tesla was lower, homeowner's insurance was twice what I'm paying, and their umbrella policy was a 15% more than State Farm. YMMV

I'm very reasonable so I'm sure unless the previous owner thrashed the car I will be more then happy! I was just referring to mechanical defects which would be covered under the warranty.

Thank you, so it looks like I should be getting 1 charging unit and 3 adapters. I will verify the super charging, I'm very happy you brought that up as I did not know it will show up on your account. I spoke with my delivery specialist and I do not need to bring insurance for the Tesla, just a copy of my current auto insurance. I got a quote and with Progressive and $1000 deductibles it is costing me $1600 / year, which isn't bad at all.

I didn’t have to add the tesla to my insurance before I bought it.

Things I checked when I bought mine:

All damage was recorded in the pictures.
The battery miles/percent charge (mine was 248, I don’t know what ny cutoff was but 248 was fine, 253 rated I think original P85D’s showed 260ish).
Tires were good
App worked on the car
Keys worked
Mileage
Hatch and frunk
No major interior damage
Carfax
Charge connectors are there

Things I should have checked (haven’t found an issue other than tail light leak yet, but have thought of a few things)

FSSS on the struts for + suspension (don’t know your vintage)
Matching VIN on body parts
Service history (I thinj I asked and they gave a nothing answer, maybe should have pushed)
Accident history, not sure they known this or not
Check for overspray/paint repairs
Check for condensation in tail light (Tesla will have to repair)
Phone connects to music
Could check all electronics- windows, locks, seat controls, but not too concerned with the warranty
Ask if the coolant and brake fluid have been changed (this I do regret not asking, supposed to change coolant after 40k or 4 years for coolant and mines at 39k). Maybe ask for it to be done if it hasn’t?
Undercarriage damage

I think it’s supposed to rain this weekend so maybe ask if you can inspect inside?

Make sure everyone who goes on the registration and loan are there, I removed my wife last second because she wasn’t going to be there.

That’s all I can think of, I did a bad job inspecting mine since it’s under warranty and figured they’ll fix it if it breaks.

I was prepared to walk away if it was not up to my expectations, I would be ready too, you can find another car to transfer and there are quite a few out there now, otherwise I’m pretty sure you could get your deposit back if you complain enough.

Update!!

Picked up my car yesterday, ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

My pickup was in San Diego @ 10AM. Here is a little insight on the entire pickup to give insight to future buyers and my opinion on my Tesla vs my Panamera GTS.

I was immediately greeted by Joey, my delivery specialist who out of all of the people I've interacted thus far at Tesla, was by far the best. He was fantastic. He talked to me about the process, reassured me that I had two keys and the car was 90% charged and super charging was enabled. Then he walked me over to my vehicle, which looked amazing from first sight.

He then let me inspect the car, it was freshly detailed and looked great. It wasn't a showroom detail that you would pay $300+ for, but it looked very nice. My car being the red multi coat, had some areas that were touched up prior, and some areas that I will have to purchase and touch up. The car is used being a 2015 so I was prepared for a used vehicle and not a new one. Overall, the exterior I would give it a 8.5. One of the parking sensors was a little damaged, but Joey had a due bill created which included a new parking sensor and a free alignment as he said their alignment machine was down for the day. The 21" wheels had ZERO curb rash which was fantastic. The Interior with the Next Gen seats looked near new. No signs of any excessive wear. He then helped me setup the basics, my slacker account, the comfort access on the seats, and showed me my charging cables and adapters. Test drove the car around the block and gave him the thumbs up and I was on my way!!

Drove the car around 300 miles so far, overall I LOVE IT!! The previous Tesla I drove did not have the Next Gen seats, these are a huge upgrade. I bought this car to be my commute as I live in LA and work down in the Long Beach Area.

Quick comparison between these and my Porsche Panamera, I have the Panamera GTS which is a beautiful car, and I absolutely love it. Having said that, for a commute like mine, this wins all day long. Auto Pilot while on the freeway works like a charm, the huge navigation is better than mine on my Porsche. The steering is different and in the Panamera you feel much more in control of the vehicle while driving aggressively. I love the exhaust note on my Porsche but I also love the quietness on my Tesla. I do not think I would give up one for the other, and being a huge Porsche enthusiast I will have to say, IF I was only able to have one vehicle and was more concerned with being financially responsible, I would go with the Tesla.

However, I think the best combo for me is a Tesla for my commute, and then a sportier car like my Porsche for the evenings / weekends. I bought the P85D over the P100D to get myself into a Tesla and see if I liked it enough, and I'm convinced. I already can see myself giving this one to my parents at the end of the year and getting myself a P100D next year.
