My car was delivered Tuesday 2/5 to our house in Punta Gorda, FL from the Tampa Service Center. Whitney the delivery specialist did a great job of talking us through all of the basics. Once more we were impressed with Tesla’s employees.
I had the car a week and a half and had 151 miles when I was parked at a store Friday 2/15 ready to go home. I stepped on the break ready to put it in gear and got a yellow warning triangle at the bottom of the driver’s display. Car is unable to drive.
I called the Tampa service center and explained the problem. They interrogated the car and said everything looks OK. It may be the 12 volt battery although it looks good. They dispatched Aaron who arrived 2 hours later and attempted to “jump” the 12 volt with a portable power pack. This involved removing the nose panel and hooking the leads to a connection.
No change, still unable to drive. Well,” the power pack may not be good, I got it at Walmart”. So the next step was to replace the 12 volt battery. This is located on the passenger’s side in back of the frunk. This battery is charged when the car is plugged in for recharging the big battery. This was a multi-step process the first of which was to remove the wiper blades. Aaron remarked it was easier to remove the large lithium battery then the 12 volt. After undoing a lot of screws and bolts, a new 12 volt was in place and before putting everything back together it was tested. Car is still unable to drive.
Well, it has to go back to the service center. Unable to drive and shift gears, there is a procedure to put the car in neutral and push it. This did not work flawlessly as someone has to hold down a button on the screen while someone steers and someone pushes. We finally got the car to the ramps on the trailer and hooked up a winch to load it.
The car strapped down, Aaron took me home and departed for Tampa. Despite the ordeal, I remain impressed with the Tesla employees I’ve dealt with.
I got a call back Monday 2/18 afternoon saying my car is repaired and will be delivered tomorrow. A part (DC to DC converter whatever that is) was sent over night. A tire repair kit will be part of the package when it arrives at the service center.
An unfortunate, and I hear, unique experience, but it was well resolved by the Tesla team. Thanks to all.

When my firmware was at version 4.1 it started telling me that the 12v battery needed service. (No, never had it become non drivable.
Then when I tried to update to version 4.2 of the firmware it said I couldn't becase the 12v battery needed better charge. That was on a Saturday.
I called Tesla SC and they said they would need to temporarily defeat the false warning before I could get the firmware that fixed the false warning. However since the engineering team was off (it was Saturday...) they weren't sure if they could get someone to fix it. An hour or two later I got a call saying they had reset the warning and if I hurried I could upgrade the firmware.
I was in the car before they finished telling me all this. The firmware proceeded without a hitch after that.
For a week or two after that I could still see the warning. Finally last week they told me to charge the car for "Range" once, then they could check some things out.
I did that and the e-mailed me a couple days later saying that everything was cleared now. No real issue and the warning shouldn't come back because it was due to the 4.1 firmware.
I haven't seen a warning since!
Yes, these folks really are conscientious about helping the owners! Always courteous but not scripted like some call centers.

If I were you I would check if your car was still at firmware version 4.1. If so, I'd ask them to push an update ASAP.
Like other folks have said, 4.2 seems pretty stable!

The Veritable Bugeater

I just got my car back from the South Florida service center where it was detailed, the hood wrapped and windows tinted. The car was also pulling slightly to the right and they realigned it. There was something in my paperwork about updating the DC to DC converter (not sure if this was a physical item or software upgrade). Perhaps this is a known issue. I had not experienced anything like you are describing though.
