sorry for the silly question but found this 250v outlet in the in- laws garage, was labeled for an old arc welder.
Sadly not the 14-50 that I have an adapter for so will need to order from Tesla....

Check the circuit breaker. Many of these installed for welders are only on 40A circuits, not 50A as you would expect. If it’s only a 40A circuit you will need to manually turn the amps down on the charging screen to 30A.

I'd suggest taking the time to remove the cover and inspect the wiring inside the box. Maybe retorque the connections to make sure they're tight. Be sure to turn off the breaker first.
