Matte Black License Plate frame suggestions.

I was trying to install a black license plate frame from a recommendation from someone on the forum.
However I found the back of the frame has an edge with nothing to soften it. Directions suggest using weatherstripping to prevent marring the paint, but the model 3 is curved so this proves a challenge.

This is the one I was trying to install:

I'm looking for other options: So far all I have found is this one:

OP--I have the same frame on my 3--see avatar.I have the 'gen 1' rear license plate mount on my P3D+ (4 plastic inserts, no separate mounting plate). I sort of recall the DFDM black frame coming with some peel-and-stick pads but these were thin. I had a roll of 3M VHB double sided automotive tape (meant to mount trim and the like):

So I cut some small pieces to use as pads behind the black frame and the license plate. All good.

Interesting, I played with thatframe and testing weatherstripping tape for about an hour then decided to just put it on my truck instead. No matter what I did the center wanted to rub the paint I think due to the curve on the back of the 3, although it would probably be ok I guess. It also scratched my plate a little, the nubs that the screws go through jabbed into the reflective paint near the bottoms of the numbers. I also scuffed the paint removing it from the factory plate holder (should have been more careful oops!) Oh well. I should have just left it alone!

I’m not a fan of license plate frames but tried this based on a recommendation on the forum. Pretty happy with it and no worries about scratches or rust.

I just put these on my M3 and I really like them. The whole back is silicone and it snugs right up to the truck. No hint of rattle. I have “The Bandit” plate mount on the front and the frame is snug and flat against it.

Very happy.

Hi gator I actually custom make them those plates :) people have been requesting many different designs which you see on the shop and those screws were a headache to source but I finally found them. Try out a set and here’s a pic of a recent review

Hi, I am concerned about durability - rust and powder coating coming off. Doesn't seem like anyone has had them long enough to report on this. Also are they 100% Stainless Steel or aluminium?
