MCU 1 vs MCU 2

Im looking to buy a used 2016 tesla S. im looking at a bunch of online photos
is there any telltale giveaways that would tell me im looking at an mcu 2 screen?
sometimes dealers dont know.

Tap on the car icon in the bottom left to bring up controls.

Tap Software >> Additional Vehicle Information

Look for "Infotainment Processor." If its value says "Intel Atom" then the car has MCU2. MCU1 probably says NVIDIA Tegra.

thanks! but i was looking for something i can glean from pictures, when im shopping online.
like a font is different or something kind of obvious.
or maybe theres nothing

At this point I don't think there's anything different to see. A couple months ago Tesla updated MCU1 cars to v11 which changed the UI to the same as the MCU2 cars. Before that you'd be able to tell a v11 (MCU2) vs v10 (MCU1) car by looking at the screen layout.

Yeah, the only way you can positively see is to check the Additional Vehicle tab as @beatle detailed. MCU1 should should as NVIDIA Tegra. There is nothing different in any of the fonts of visual aspects of either display that would indicated upgrade has been performed.

One 'negative' indicator would be if they can show that it has AM radio. AM is only available with MCU1. Even if they replaced the radio for MCU2, that will just replace the FM or XM tuner capabilities. There is no AM radio available for any MCU2 vehicle.

The other way would be to have them pull up the Theater mode and show you something display with one of the video services displayed, or similarly Arcade. I'd need to doublecheck, but are some of the Arcade games you'll see available with MCU2 that will not be visible with MCU1.

Yeah, was the Solitaire, Cuphead, Stardew Valley, and Fallout the games that MCU 1 did not had?
