Non-Tesla Lease Financing Locks Tesla Account from Changes

Tesla paired us with a third party lender(Santander) for my son's 2024 M3 lease, my son is the primary with myself as the co-signer.

The person helping us at the SC said to just use my existing Tesla account since it'll expedite the lease sign-up process. Said it would be possible to change the car's "main account" to my son's newly created Tesla account later and when we arrived to pick up the car, the delivery specialist said the same thing, just call Tesla later or do it through the app. Signed the papers and drive off. Well, the transfer option is greyed out on the app and after calling Tesla they tell me the following:

If you have a non-Tesla financed lease i.e. third party partner sourced through Tesla, it is not possible to change the main account associated with the car. My account is the primary driver on Tesla's system but on the DMV and lease paperwork from Santander, my son is the primary. Amazes me that they don't have a system to correct this despite being bounced between two departments.

Thought maybe I could transfer my current 2022 M3 out of the account into a new email address and change the name / email address on my current Tesla account to my son's and that is not possible due to the third party lease. My son has reduced access to the car, can't hold his own policy through Tesla insurance at his address out of state, and I personally don't care to have the key on my app. They really need to fix this.
