Over 600 Miles On One Charge

Tons of research going on with battery technology. Lots of promissing new ideas, but for some reason they rarely make it to the marketplace. Usually they improve in one area, but fail in another.

Tesla is also in the process of rolling out their own design battery, optimized for their EVs. Less expensive, more efficient, easier and faster to make, less critical materials, lighter, longer lasting, faster charging etc. Imagine they will make different batteries for EV use than for power storage. They have slightly different requirements. Recently Tesla purchased German Grohman company that makes the machines to make batteries as well as Maxwell, who has some breakthrough battery patents and capacitor technology.

Tesla has already announced future products such as Cybertruck, Semi and New Roadster. All expected to have 500-600 mile ranges.

The future of batteries is bright.

And remember that we are talking about an article from a small research team. Probabilities of market are very small.

That's the whole point. The article mentions how Australia has lost lots of automotive activities over the past years. Government should support this sort of innovation. But I guess the abundance of solar energy got to them. They rather stick to coal.
