Rainwater in charge port trips RCD in Myenergi Zappi. The charge cover slopes inward carrying rainwater into the connection point

The design of the model y is such that the charge port cover deflects rainwater inward rather than away from the connector. This frequently causes interruption to the charge, tripping the RCD in my wall box. It is more often a problem when charging overnight. Last Sunday I planned a round trip of almost 400km and was alerted twice through the night that charging had stopped. So, out of bed to reset the charging twice left me a very grumpy driver. This happens frequently.

Many thanks for the link. The very fact that these covers are made points to a weakness in Tesla’s design. My previous car, a Kia e-Niro , never had this issue.

My guess is that it's designed that way so melted ice water flows away from the door during winter and when the heating element is on.
