Rocks fall off a truck and damage bonnet and windscreen

So I was driving on the freeway behind a truck and some rocks come off and hit the model 3.
I turned off and didn’t bother to take the number plate as I thought the dashcam would pick it up.
Although after reviewing it on the computer I can only make out one or two digits.
Would anyone please know if it’s worth me going down to the police to see if they can use the footage to run it through their AI number plate encoder systems ?

And that kids is why I don't follow construction trucks. I give them plenty of leeway.
