Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm doing it for looks and was looking for alternatives to the stick-on cap most people offer. Fake carbon fiber effect is tacky for me, ha ha.

I used the cheap ABS ones from China on my silver metallic '18 LR 3, to match the camera covers, which sustained some hail damage. FWIW, that was the only area that was damaged from hail. Also had a matching rear spoiler, also ABS. Dechromed it myself from roll and sheet vinyl. Next time I'd use precut parts.
