[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]SpaceX successfully launched and landed a Falcon 9 rocket Thursday as part of a mission to delivery Qatar’s Es’hail 2 communications satellite into orbit.
The launch was SpaceX’s 18th this year. The rocket’s first-stage booster made a pinpoint landing on a drone ship, marking the company’s 31st successful recovery.
The “block 5″ booster, SpaceX’s latest design, first flew last July to launch a Telstar communications satellite into orbit. The block 5 version is designed to fly up to 100 times.
Another launch is scheduled for Monday from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The rocket to be used will be the first to fly three times.
