what do these accomplish?
On a stock height vehicle with no suspension modifications, adjustable sway bar end links will do absolutely nothing.

On a vehicle with a lowered (or track tuned) aftermarket suspension (usually 2" or more from stock) and ultimately depending on the way the OEM sway bar is designed / mounted, a set of adjustable end links can help relieve any unwanted pre-load in the sway bar that may be present after the vehicle is lowered. NOTE - not all vehicles will experience this. A "loaded" sway bar at ride height will adversely affect ride quality and handling. You can eliminate that pre-load and get the sway bar back into normal geometry with adjustable end links. Last but not least, adjustable end links can also help to create additional clearance for low hanging sway bars due to a lowered suspension.

Once again, not all vehicles with a lowered suspension will benefit from adjustable end links. It's more a matter of need vs benefit for this particular modification, and I get that most adjustable end links are usually made to better than OEM standards, and one may argue it's an upgrade nonetheless, but it is a mod that most will see little to no gains from, unless you need them.
