Rumor amongst area fire departments is the agencies dealing with this fire waited too long to request additional resources. Could be some 'investigations' into this, and possibly a scape goat or two.
LOTS of accolades to the units/crews who defended this building, however...

This was an anomaly by city fire fighting standards and those who were making decisions had literally minutes, not hours to try to call something that had never been called before. I'm not giving any of that conjecture any relevance w/o hard data to back it. Just a bunch of "Monday morning quarterbacks" playing expert on a never-before-seen situation.

The very fact that there were so few human casualties speaks volumes about the amazing work that was done that day. That fire swept so quickly that it was all hands on deck just to get humans out of their homes and out of the city in a matter of minutes. The results speak for themselves. Too much thought being given to structures right now and the ONLY thing that even makes that possible at this point is the incredible work that was done that day.

It's almost finished. Looks to be fully stocked with parts, service equipment, and office furniture. Caught someone washing the windows last night. She said there have been employee meetings, and is confident it'll re-open in February, just over a year after the fire.

The reason they didn't just repair the old structure was apparently that the insurance company wouldn't let them. Given that the sprinkler system went off, they would have needed to replace every bit of wiring in the building, and all the structural steel that was anywhere near the part that got singed.
