Tesla Motors HQ Relocation to Fremont?

With all the excess space that Tesla has in Fremont, why not combine both the factory and headquarters and save a bunch of coin?

They are doing this over time. A friend of mine works for Tesla and we talked about this once because he originally split his time between Palo Alto and Fremont and is now full-time in Fremont. They are slowly doing this with every team/department/discipline.

Some of the R & D staff based in Hawthorne Ca is also moving to Fremont. The Hawthorne facility is also where Spacex is headquartered.
