A friend sold her MX to a family member last month, never did the xfer via the app. so the MX still is associated to her account/app. She ordered a 2024 MX in early March and the app showing the ability to transfer FSD through the trade-in section I believe. The family member she sold to does not want FSD and gave her the green light to do the transfer if it will work (i think they worked out a small reimbursement for this). Does anyone know if Tesla does a title search and/or somehow validates who the current car owner is prior to the FSD transfer? Or is it good enough to simply have the car you're transferring from in your account. Disclaimer: she realizes this violates their terms/conditions, but figured she had nothing to lose if it would work. Just curious if anyone has experience with this? She's scheduled for pick-up this upcoming week.

Transfer Of FSD From Already Sold Car

Im not sure why anyone would post a question that amounts to "anyone figure out a way to steal FSD from a vehicle after they sold it?" Given the circumstances you laid out, she should just try it and either it works or it doesnt. Since its "A family member" and its "agreed to by both parties" if it doesnt work there is no skin lost from either of them.. right?
