I would think it's based on your registration/profile state. But when I purchased the Acceleration Boost upgrade on model 3, I wasn't taxed. I'm in MD, so not sure why.

Yes, I believe only FSD is taxed at this point. I don't know why, someone on here knows and can explain it i'm sure.

Has anyone seen any performance upgrades available on the long range Model Y? Hopping to purchase one soon and would like to know if there are any upgrades similar to what they offered for the Model 3.

It’s probably taxed as standard sales tax. If your state doesn’t have sales tax then it probably isn’t going to be taxed even if you have an auto sales tax. In addition, you probably don’t pay the extra motor vehicle sales tax if your city, county, or state has (if applicable).
