Love my new X, but not the hardiness of the paint. I drove through a sand storm in southern New Mexico on the way to Tucson and at the end of my round trip I noticed that there were some dings on the paint - front fenders and leading edge of the hood. I ordered Tesla’s paint kit for my white X. The kit looks great but the paint is so thin that it doesn’t cover up the small chips. I brought the car into a local PPF installer who used another product before applying the PPF (for all I know it was white nail polish) and you can hardly see any chips. And now with the PPF I should not have to worry about any more paint damage - at least to the front ⅓ of the car. My advice is to not buy the Tesla paint kit - certainly not in white. Perhaps other colors are thicker and would do a good job. For me, it was $60 thrown out.
