Don't the original seats have side airbags in them? Sure I saw that in the manual.

Yes, seats with airbags should not have covers - delays and alters the trajectory of deployment AT BEST. Manual will state you should not do this IF the bags are in the outside edge, which is where they often are.

Thank you for letting me know. For some reason the textile seats get dirty easily and they are hard to clean!

Perhaps investigate professional cleaning and some kind of fabric protector (Scotchgard type product) ...

Good to know, though I'm hoping the Nappa leather won't need covering any time soon - of course it's Nappa ...
