Model-X styling ideas

I see... Now how differently will the "X" be from the roadshow Model S based version?
I'm sure that slide wasn't terribly representative. But it did essentially look like the Lotus APX. Also recall that the APX was supposed to be the Zap-X.

Anyhow, APX looked kinda cool to me back when I first saw photos, but it feels dated to me now. I'm sure Tesla can do much better.

Sorry for the confusion... After TEG said that TM never seriously considered the APX as a Model X option. I went on to ask how would the upcoming Model X look like? would it be that concept drawing shown in the TM roadshow presentation or would it be based on the Model S' styling queues or would it be a fresh redesign riding the S platform? Has anyone heard or seen anything new on that front?

Not sure how aerodynamic this is, but:

Nothing new that I've heard, but I have to think that Tesla designers will be striving to create a family resemblance across the entire line.

Just a random little thing, but I like the way they put the windshield wiper pivot points on the outside edge of the 'windscreen'/'windshield' like that.
So many cars have the passenger wiper pivot off of the center of the car, and the driver's wiper off of the drivers edge.

I find that arrangement where they sweep in different directions somehow more appealing.

Recent Honda civics are this way too:

Just seems cleaner that way:

I posted this on the Tesla Motors Face book page back on September 27 just to see how close I would get to the final design.

Elon musk has repeatedly used BMW at a benchmark in interviews so I took crossover SUV cues from the BMW X6.

P.S. Sorry for the crappy Photoshop job

I'm getting a vibe of the Nissan Juke and a Cayenne mixed with a little of a VW Beetle.

See attachments from TRANSLOGIC 77: Elon Musk Interview, Tesla

They are suggesting the Model X could look like the Tesla EYE concept car.

Ack! What a horror! In contrast to the elegant lines of the Model S, this design looks like some misbegotten bastard of an Imperial Storm Trooper and the laser scooters in Tron. Send it back to whatever Pit of Hell it came from!
That's just some student project and should be ignored. For some reason CNN used it recently also.
Here's our thread on it: Tesla I.E.D. E.Y.E Concept

I don't see how this design would have much more internal space than the Model S. Besides, I think, the Model X is supposed to have 3 forward-facing rows of seating.

Hi Norbert,

I'm inclined to agree. I think that the Translogic folks are taking more than a little literary license in making the connection between the very futuristic concept car and the upcoming Model X, but nevertheless I thought it would be fun to post it to see reactions. I believe Doug had a negative reaction in another thread.

Now that's interesting. A stitched mosaic from the design studio... A clay model of the Model X with a black cover...
That floor looks like the factory. That appears to be a center console on the white bench on the left. Those must be measuring robots and maybe a dashboard/ interior buck behind the bench. They clay model is the one from the Model S first showing in LA.

Good eyes, VFX. If that's really the Model S center console design, I think they're going in the right direction -- low-slung to keep a sense of open space, while providing some additional useful storage.
