Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

How did you upgrade from the laptop? Were you able to download the firmware and plug in via the USB port?

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

I'm getting the certificate error on my T2C but I found via Google a suggestion to use this url instead: http://101.200.208.6 and that works! When I try upgrading my T2C via my phone, I get a message saying "SyntaxError: The string did not match the expected pattern." Does anybody know if...

Article on costs of EV compared to ICE

I’ve moved to FL too and noticed the surprisingly high cost of superchargers. I’ve also learned that there are quite a few hotels that provide free charging. So, my need for supercharging on road trips has dropped a bit

Radar detector mirror mount and windshield replacement

Hi... Over the winter break I was able to successfully mount a radar detector from the trailer wiring harness up under the pillar, the headliner, and mirror. I then used a BlendMount to mount to the mirror Unfortunately, about 2 months ago my windshield cracked and I'm about to get a...

Long road trip for college dropoff

I should have reported this a few months ago but I did a 500 mile each way road trip to drop off my daughter at college (she transferred schools) back in early January... This was the first road trip in the Y and I was lucky enough to sneak in under the wire and be a beneficiary of the 1000...

Article on costs of EV compared to ICE

Coming back to this article.... When I first looked at the "analysis", I was still in the order queue waiting for my LRMY to show up. I got it on November 5th and after a few months of ownership, I can provide my experience as a "mostly home charger". I thought this might be useful for others...

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

I already do that. I’d still prefer to see the Waze map rather than the Tesla map. First off, the Waze map is just more clear about what lane to be in for a turn. Second, by a quick glance at the map you can see upcoming issues (police, accidents, etc) long before they get announced.

    $12K for FSD is insane

Suburu makes a decent one. I drove my parents’ car for a few hundred miles with it and it was quite good. The Tesla version is better but Suburu’s was good enough. What I particularly liked was that the autosteer would automatically re-engage after a lane change once you get centered for a few...

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

Agreed. I was hoping that the listing of the directions would be as good as Waze given the relationships that you noted. Instead, it is FAR worse. I'd suggest you try something besides the Tesla Nav and you will see how bad it truly is. I constantly have the following issues with the Tesla...

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

No argument that it may try to just save a minute. That being said, I've never had an occasion where I'm missing a turn or confused about what direction to go due to the instructions from Waze (or Apple Maps). With Tesla's nav, it's nearly every other trip that I'm frustrated with it. The...

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

Just go to the threads about V11 to hear about Tesla’s terrible infotainment UI. There is a reason why many of us run Waze while also running the Tesla nav and I certainly don’t view it as getting the best of both worlds.

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

I’d suggest trying Waze. It’s traffic routing and directions are far superior to what Tesla has.

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

Possibly true. However, the Tesla navigation is awful. On nearly every trip I take that is a bit unfamiliar to me I get reminded about how much worse it is than the alternatives. That then reminds of how bad it is that it doesn’t offer alternatives.

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

Completely agree... Maybe it's "closed" but the nice thing with the Apple CarPlay is that I don't HAVE to use it. I can always just use the system provided by the car manufacturer. I.e., it's OPTIONAL. With the Tesla system, I'm FORCED to use theirs, even if it's obviously worse than the...

No CarPlay is a deal breaker. WTF?

I'll say that the only good thing about Tesla's Nav system is that it will start pre-conditioning the battery for when you near a supercharger. Other than that it is AWFUL. Here are the issues I CONSTANTLY have with it (in order of frustration) Directions for forks/turns are awful and...
