    Tesla as only vehicle

We are in Toronto and have only the Model 3 for our family of 4. Street parking except one night a week we use our shared driveway for charging. Got the LR RWD partly for that reason. I commute 300 km a week and my husband takes transit. In the winter I need a second charge during the week at a...

Winter driving advice, winter tire choices, etc.

If you treat the seals it helps a lot. The biggest sticking point is along the bottom of the window since moisture accumulates there. An old credit card slid down far enough worked like a charm. I definitely turned off auto wipers and auto fold mirrors so they wouldn’t get damaged.

    Examples of "soul sucking" traffic?

...and I stand corrected. Toronto is worst in NA when combining both car and transit use. Source: The Best and Worst Cities for Commuting

    Examples of "soul sucking" traffic?

I was just going to mention Toronto! Worst congestion in North America. I reverse commute (live downtown-ish, work on the outskirts) so it’s better than most! 30 km by highways or 24 km surface roads. Typically takes an hour in the evening, but Monday took 1:20. It’s much less painful in the 3...

    Perpetual motion machine!

bijan is correct, I didn’t mention that the range remaining “dropped” 20 km overnight each time (and the snowflake came on) so it was just gaining back that inaccessible 20 km. I’m in a less common situation in that I can’t charge every night, so I get to gather interesting data like these...

    Perpetual motion machine!

With the cool mornings and warmer afternoons this week in Toronto, it’s been fun driving home. The “locked” capacity of the cold battery seems to get released as the battery warms, so my 30 km commute home has used 7, 5, and 3 km the last 3 days. This doesn’t show the whole drive since I changed...

New maximum range on LR RWD 2019.5.15

It’s still 150. Also the charge rate at home in km/h stayed the same (would have increased if it were just an adjustment to the efficiency). It’s a real increase. The first charge after the update I got to 470 km at 90%; second time was 464 but I don’t know if it dropped after finishing.

Range anxiety, winter performance and more concerns need help overcoming

Lots of good responses here, so just to address your last question, I charge outdoors on a NEMA 14-50 at 32A and in cold weather (-20) it takes about an hour of warming before it hits the 49 km/hr typical rate. Sometimes it even stays at zero for a while. The point being, the reduction due to...

Cold. Cold. Cold. Strange / Interesting screen reading.

Have you seen this “Battery is heating” message? It’s not always there but we do get a high usage period that’s not just the HVAC as it creates a longer obvious peak in the energy graph. This wasn’t a particularly cold day; this week it’s often been cut off at the 600 Wh/km level at the top...

Cable Stuck with Red Tesla Logo on Charge Port

This happened to us a few times in December, at 3 different locations including a supercharger, with the warnings in the photo. It also wouldn’t start charging again. I believe it happened after the update that was supposed to help with cold weather charging issues (48 maybe?). Walking away...

Real cost of charging the Model 3?

I recently looked at my 6 months of electric bills after June when we got our M3, compared to last year, and determined that I spent $19/mo extra on charging. Plus $31/mo at Superchargers (I’m guessing that was maybe a third of the charging). Previously I was spending $200-250/mo on gas (2006...

Toronto - Lawrence Supercharger To Close -Concerned?

James, I’m in the area you mentioned (Leslieville) with street parking and commute north via DVP. Our neighbour kindly agreed to let us use the shared drive to charge once a week but we need to top up mid-week in winter or after cottage trips. We count on that SC!
