    Wheel & Tire Size Consideration

I get the feeling you're right. Musk is only going to accept a certain degree of “government fleet spec” look for his cars.

    Wheel & Tire Size Consideration

You're the one speaking in absolutes, not me. Modern car designs have seen wheel arches get much larger. These days, an 18” wheel option may have just as much tire as a 15” wheel option had a decade ago. A Model A is as relevant to my previous point as a Caterpillar earth mover, so I have to...

Motor Trend live at Gigafactory with Model 3 today!

Hah... nice. I'd not have thought of that.

    Wheel & Tire Size Consideration

It's a trend that is unlikely to reverse any time soon. Modern designs are biased toward larger diameter wheels. Just think about where the 20" wheel began in mass production- the 2002 Ram. At that time, it looked gigantic. But here we are a decade later, and you can get factory 21" rollers on a...

Motor Trend live at Gigafactory with Model 3 today!

They are 12" x 24". Unfortunately, none of the indoor photos are from an angle which would allow us to figure the hypotenuse of the triangle made by the 3 relative to the 90° angle in the floor tiles. A photo from a balcony or terrace would have been the “money shot.”

Cars to Buy or Lease While Waiting for Model 3

I'm just going to accelerate the replacement of my wife's car and try to get it paid off before my 3 arrives. Since I do four miles a day, it'll have minimal miles on it when I turn it over to her. The plan is for it to be a Golf Sportwagen. She'll keep her Golf for now, and I'll bid adieu to...

    Model 3 Supercharging Capable Discussion

I'm having difficulty putting much stock in anything we're hearing this far ahead of the launch. I spent two years chasing an Audi S3 and ended up frustrated and let down. Given that Audi is an established manufacturer and Tesla is much more likely to engage in self-admitted “hubris,” I think it...

    Supercharger - Jackson, Mississippi

So that one is a “pull straight in” setup... interesting. I can't claim to have ever seen one in person before, but of the photos I have seen, most have been “back in” setups. Which is more common?

    Lease vs. Cash

That's an interesting point. In my opinion, the S is an example of a vehicle that experiences slower obsolescence than the average vehicle. You may not be able to get Autopilot features in an early S, but outside of that, the S sees somewhat routine firmware updates that add new things. It's...

    Rear End... Hmmmmmm

Yes... echoing the three others calling for AMBER TURN SIGNALS out back. It beans me that so many automakers have done away with them. I'd like to not have to buy European-spec lamps for a third car in a row. The tail lamps don't offend me otherwise, but I do think they could be a bit more...

    Model 3 Nema 14/50?

I opted to have one run when we had all the walls open for new electrical. I told myself I may want a boss air compressor one day. Electrician looked at me like I'd lost my mind, but I look like the smart one now...

Would You Prefer A Solid Roof?

Quick... let's pass this one on the Elon so he can get us our cars quicker. :D

Would You Prefer A Solid Roof?

In any car from which I have ever removed a headliner, it's clear that a metal roof, plus its accompanying structural members, and a headliner panel is substantially thicker than a sheet of glass... unless this is ballistics-grade glass in the M3. It's rather minor overall, but I look forward...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

Fair point, but it remains to be seen what the base EPA range will actually be. I was left with the impression that 215 wasn't set as the base, but rather as the minimum for the base. Regardless, I don't intend to buy the base configuration.
