Since you're using a relay on the PCB, there's lots of ways it could be done, even if you can't access the "reverse wire" (is there is such a thing?) You could detect current through the reverse lights and use that signal to switch the relay.

I'm working with an Omnivision camera chip at work and part of my job is to develop firmware for setting the registers, talking to the camera, etc. I agree with the previous posters that the Pic is probably setting the registers over the I2C bus. We wouldn't have to actually intercept these...

Here's a related question. Are there driving techniques unique to the MS that you can't do with other electric vehicles? I'm thinking that since the regen is tied to the go pedal instead of the brake, there are special considerations for the Tesla.

How about funny sounds after you park? When I get out of the car in the evening in the garage, I can hear high-pitched whining sounds. I've assumed it's part of the battery cooling system or maybe just the AC compressor still running, but it doesn't sound nice.
