    Parking lot accident, need advice!

Recently my beloved Model S was struck in a parking lot. Another car attempted to cut a corner around me and scraped across my rear right. There is some significant gouging in the rear bumper cover, as well as the edge of the trunk lid - see pics below. No damage anywhere else that I can tell...

    List of 120kW Superchargers

March 19-26. Last time I charged at Fremont was early April.

    List of 120kW Superchargers

Here are all the SCs that I noted during my recent East-to-West road trip. I forgot to note several of them, but here's what I've got: Somerset, PA: 120 kW Macedonia, OH: 90 kW Mishawaka, IN: 120 kW La Crosse, WI: 120 kW Albert Lea, MN: 120 kW Mitchell, SD: 90 kW Murdo, SD: 120 kW Rapid City...

Cross country trip to start a job at Tesla!

Last day! Our last leg last night was Kingman - Barstow, 209 miles. We did it in 322 Wh/mi, no problems. There was a major headwind at the end so we were driving just under the speed limit for our first conservative experience with this route. We leave Barstow around 9. Approximate ETAs are...

Cross country trip to start a job at Tesla!

Sorry we missed you, Steve. We've made it to Moab and met some cool people along the way. Tomorrow we hit Blanding, Farmington, Gallup, Holbrook, and Flagstaff, hopefully. I know we could go straight to Flagstaff from Blanding, but we actually want to see Four Corners and some sights in New...

Cross country trip to start a job at Tesla!

Guys, thanks for all the well wishes. We're in Wisconsin tonight. Tomorrow we go through Mauston, Onalaska, Albert Lea, Worthington, Mitchell, and Murdo. It's going to be a long day! I have lots of comments and info about the trip and some thoughts on early autopilot features that I would have...

Cross country trip to start a job at Tesla!

In a couple hours, I am leaving my home in Maryland to start a cross-country drive in my Model S 85. A few months ago, I started interviewing at Tesla and got a job offer this January in their Autopilot autonomous driving program. Our first stop will be at the Somerset supercharger around...

Car washes near DC/Montgomery County MD?

Does anyone have a favorite car wash for their Model S near Montgomery County, MD? I've been hand washing up to now, but it's finally too cold and the salt from the Maryland snow storms is starting to get to me.

Emergency "Kill Switch" - Would this work?

In a gas car, the kill switch is called "the key".

Wireless front parking camera with monitor for front bumper protection

Since you're using a relay on the PCB, there's lots of ways it could be done, even if you can't access the "reverse wire" (is there is such a thing?) You could detect current through the reverse lights and use that signal to switch the relay.

Wireless front parking camera with monitor for front bumper protection

Roger that - I'll put in a request for the OV10630 datasheet today.

Wireless front parking camera with monitor for front bumper protection

I'm working with an Omnivision camera chip at work and part of my job is to develop firmware for setting the registers, talking to the camera, etc. I agree with the previous posters that the Pic is probably setting the registers over the I2C bus. We wouldn't have to actually intercept these...

    Thoughts on hypermiling the Tesla

Here's a related question. Are there driving techniques unique to the MS that you can't do with other electric vehicles? I'm thinking that since the regen is tied to the go pedal instead of the brake, there are special considerations for the Tesla.

    Normal Model S Sounds

How about funny sounds after you park? When I get out of the car in the evening in the garage, I can hear high-pitched whining sounds. I've assumed it's part of the battery cooling system or maybe just the AC compressor still running, but it doesn't sound nice.

    Charging in Ocean City, MD?

This is what I was thinking, if you have to stop to charge along the way. The total time will be shorter stopping at the Delaware SC. The problem is it's 114 miles from the DE SC to Ocean City. Even if you get a full range charge at the SC, which will take longer, you'll still have to charge...
