Tesla Model S 75D 2018 battery heater and other components

I have a very limited understanding of the cabin PTC heater so take this with a grain of salt, but my understanding is that it is electrically split in 2 different halves. One half will provide heat for a set amount of time, then that half will switch off and the other half will provide heat...

Tesla Model S 75D 2018 battery heater and other components

The PTC heater for the battery is separate from the cabin PTC heater. PTC is just the type of heating element: Positive Temperature Coefficient (resistance increases with temperature so it's virtually impossible to overheat). The battery heater is under the frunk tub and the cabin heater is in...

Tesla Model S 75D 2018 battery heater and other components

What year? Does it have the PTC heater for the battery coolant loop? If so, it's an easy swap with a new one.

    Model S 85D Charging times

Yeah, the older ones are not really good road trip cars. Perfect for around town, local trips though. I drive, at a minimum, 130 miles every single day. I charge at home and work and it works great for me. For those rare occasions I need to go on longer trips I just plan to spend about an hour...

Tesla Service Center damaged Model S Plaid

It seems to me that Tesla does what Tesla wants to do. It's very easy, from a customer service standpoint, to just ignore people. It's for this reason that my current Tesla will probably be my last one. It's also the reason why I never really wanted to get a Tesla in the first place, they just...

$3k repair bill, is this legitimate?

I would say the price is reasonable. It is not easily repairable at home if you are going to replace the carrier assembly, as everything on the front of the car is attached to it and will need to be transferred over to the new carrier: condensers, radiator, all sensors, ducting, etc... The...

Tesla Service Center damaged Model S Plaid

I don't have anything to add other than they are responsible for damage they cause to your vehicle while it is in their possession. If you had "aftermarket" tires on it and they poked a hole through one, they'd be responsible. It has nothing to do with the fact that it's aftermarket when they...

    Model S 85D Charging times

Depends on the year. My 2013 S 85 would only get, maybe, 20kw in 20 minutes at 10% which would roughly equate to 60 miles. Experience says it's not quite that much. Others with newer MS 85 will chime in.

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

I'm certain it is not comparing GPS indicated speeds to vehicle indicated speeds and adjusting the speedometer. My 2013 S85 is consistently 2 mph higher indicated on the speedometer than the GPS reports.

    Help identifying this part

It's an unused electrical connector with a dummy plug in it. Goes nowhere on your particular car. Most likely for an option that you don't have.

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

2013 12/13 build date S85 with 162,223 miles. 3rd owner, lemon branded title after the first owner. Bought it the end of July this year (2023) with 151,000 miles on it. Original battery, 222 miles at 100%. Drive it around 140 miles every day to/from work. Just had the front end all apart due to...

Does Toolbox 3 work with 2013 MCU 1 Tegra?

Another update. I was poking around in the service menu today and noticed there is now a button for coolant purge. I ran the purge routine, it ran the pumps and valves for a little bit. The coolant level never changed. I must have gotten all of the air out with the method above.

Upgrading 2013 MS to air suspension??

Perfect! Thanks, that is one of the controllers I was looking at.

Upgrading 2013 MS to air suspension??

Has anyone upgraded their early MS from standard coil-overs to air suspension? I see all four air struts are available relatively inexpensively ($1500 for all 4) and I could easily plumb them up to an aftermarket air suspension pump/tank. Wondering if anyone has done this and is it just that...

    buying a lemon?

No, I bought it used back in July. There are no signs of why the buyback occurred. The battery is the original, all of the paint marks are all over everything, etc... I can't explain why the title is branded "Lemon" other than Tesla buying it back to remove the free supercharging and free...
