Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

Got the free trial last week and have used it a couple of times - it works really well! Ironically, I've had to turn it off when I want to change my music and then back on so I don't get "dinged"

    X Owner test drives new Model X Dual-Motor - Jan2024

As of today, you can physically block the internal camera with solid tape or one of those camera blocking sliders - autopilot will not complain (can't say about FSD). I noticed it also cannot see through sunglasses because it's just a camera not infrared so there are limitations on current cars...

Did you just buy a Tesla from Hertz Car Rental?

You gotta be careful - it only qualifies for the 4k rebate if it's 25,000 or under. So if its' 25k and change, it's now 4k more expensive!

Other party is denying my claim. Can I still get DV?

You're lucky that the other person at least had insurance. This happened to us and the other driver didn't have insurance and had no way to cover anything (she side swiped ours and 2 other parked cars - one of which was a very nice Range Rover). Our insurance covered the repair but we lost quite...

I know some folks are asking about the 4K tax credit - check it out below. https://electrek.co/2024/01/23/here-are-all-the-used-evs-that-qualify-for-the-new-4000-tax-credit/#:~:text=As%20long%20as%20they%20fit,Internal%20Revenue%20Code%20Section%2025E.

@kpanda17 - Great tip - especially with my son will be getting his license likely in the fall!

Did you just buy a Tesla from Hertz Car Rental?

I purchased one from Hertz last week for my kids - 19k and change for a M3 Long Range. 87k miles on it but the drive train and battery still covered. I was able to see and test drive the car. Plenty of scratches and chips but also glad I don't have to worry about my kids learning on my Model X...

    Insurance after accident

Statefarm has been really great for us. One of our cars got hit while parked and the driver didn't have insurance. Statefarm covered our damages (over 20k) and paid for a loaner car until the car was repaired (took a month). Our rates are really good too compared to others.

    X Owner test drives new Model X Dual-Motor - Jan2024

I went from a 2016 to a 2022 and couldn't agree more about auto-pilot. I highly highly prefer the 2016 autopilot due to all the nagging and complaining you have to deal with on the refresh. I actually don't use all that much because it gets so ridiculously annoying. I would also add, the older...

    Deactivate Autopilot?

Really simple - click the right scroll wheel to deactivate it.

    Model X Upcoming Changes?

The S and X have the same wheel and yoke with the horn on the upper right.

    Model X Upcoming Changes?

Purely speculation, but since the new model 3 has no stalks and a center horn so we'll see if they start shipping the S and X with that as well.

    Change username?

I know this is an old post and didn't want to start a new one. Can I get a moderator to approve my username change? My refresh MX is white so my username doesn't really align :)

    Key fob not detected?

I'll definitely remember this - great tip!

    Key fob not detected?

That's interesting - haven't needed that but will keep that in mind. My situation is the fob works for unlocking and opening doors but then fails to detect when I get in the car. I'll test the battery - great suggestion.
