2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

The 2021 and later Long Range traps 130. Draggy is just as valid as as a drag strip. If the slope is outside 1% the results are invalid.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

What suspension setting did you have it in? My Plaid is leagues quieter in terms of wind and road noise compared to the 3, and the ride(in the correct setting) is outstanding.

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

I drove a 2023 Performance for a year before trading it in on a Plaid. The changes certainly are nice(minus the wheels IMO, would go aftermarket 18's anyways), but it's essentially the same old drivetrain with a ~10% power bump, some better seats, and some compression/rebound dampening...

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

quieter - It better be, the previous model sounded like it had door seals from a 1989 Hyundai better ride - Ride was trash to begin with looks better - I actually think it looks worse wheels are bad ass and forged/staggered - Wheels look foul, and even worse when you take off the aero covers...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I would hope you'd be able to outhandle a Plaid on a 35-40 second course. That said, my completely stock Plaid had fastest time of the day out of a 25 car field over 20 sprint laps. It is what it is.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

.05 in the 60' is worth about one tenth. I swapped to lightweight 18's on mine and the difference in 1/4 mile times was less than a tenth. heating the battery makes the biggest difference. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the new one does. If it's a full half second quicker and runs...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The weight is there for sure, but the Plaid has much better suspension than the 3 and actually has more lateral grip. Even on a very tight track, the Plaid is a blast to drive. And once the session is over, you throw it in comfort mode and cruise on home.

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

Tarted up rental car is exactly how I felt about my M3P. The Plaid makes the 3 feel like a tin can. Brakes are fantastic, although I think that initially people are somewhat turned off by the feel. The work great on the street and the track(drag and road course), but will get hot after some...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Seriously, these guys are going to give themselves an aneurysm hoping and praying that a .2 reduction in 0-60 is somehow going to translate into dropping a second off and adding 10 Mph to the quarter mile. Even if it did run mid-10's at 125, which is fantastic(and probably the performance...

Plaid S or Highland Model 3 Performance

I dumped my 2023 M3P for a Plaid. The 2024 is simply warmed over a touch and for all intents and purposes is the same car. I have 0 intentions of ever going back.

Help me decide Model 3P or Model YP

The Y looks like an ugly jelly bean, while the 3 is much less offensively shaped.

    Chill Mode usage

My M3P was set to standard for the year I had it. I put it in chill once and just laughed. OE tires lasted 8,600 miles, and the replacement set was about halfway gone after another 8,000. Traded it in at 17k for a Plaid. The OE tires on that thing are about half gone after 4K, and that includes...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I hope the above is true, but I find it very telling that tesla made a supposedly badass car and decided to ignore every acceleration metric except a moderate decrease in 0-60. If it was a 10.7 @ 125 car, I would think they'd capitalize on it.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

This right here is easily worth .2 to 60, which tells me that there really isn't improved power through 60 Mph, its simply a stronger initial hit. The OG Performance was SOFT from a stop. So, it appears that Tesla has quickened the initial power ramp to get a marginally better 0-60, and after...

Plaid Drag Racing - Not such a great night

I went to a no-prep 1/8th mile event on the worst strip of asphalt I've ever driven on. Car runs 6.1-6.20 on the street, but here it was spinning up to 70 Mph and running 6.60. Tire slip absolutely can be felt, but the TC system is by far the smoothest I have experienced. If you don't think...
