State Farm. I have almost a dozen policies and yes, I use a local agent for many reasons. I did add my Tesla through the app (very easy), but even if you do that, my agent will call to give a quote and initiate payment. Nothing archaic, really.

I'm assuming you already have a car that is insured. If so, you just call the agent when you know your delivery date (with the VIN) and they will give you a quote and ask what date you would like it to take effect. If you do NOT currently have insurance, I would start the process as soon as you...

Sure, but it sounded like he had to call the dealer literally daily to check on it. That doesn't sound like the SA was doing much aside from checking current inventory. It's like standing in the kitchen at a restaurant and saying you got awesome service. An amazing SA would call you when the...

Unless you're a shareholder in your insurance company, the effective date should be the date of pickup.

The SA has virtually zero say on when you get your car. You got lucky and were matched to a car that someone likely backed out on.

Because it's probably like: order (six weeks of nothing) built in one day sit on a lot for a few days ship for 3-4 days delivery People think they're missing so much excitement, but it's just waiting while overseas orders are fulfilled. This isn't a Build-A-Bear - it's a damn car factory!

Yeah, that was my original point. I was wondering where they came up with that as the cutoff. Turns out it's just as fake as most, although I did find this one article referencing that date as the cutoff: The Clean Energy for America Act and Its Potential Impact on Tesla.

I meant the tax credit cutoff date of 5/24.

Where did you come up with this date?

Until you have a VIN assigned to your car, the store will not be able to give you any information. Once I had a VIN, I called my store and they could log into the car and see exactly where it is. You'll have a VIN shortly. Sit tight!

Nobody wants to hear "we don't know" from their dealership. Yes, we are customers, but we've all only paid $100 (not a *sugar*-ton) and should know that regardless of what the showroom staff says, the cars arrive at the end of the quarter. If you're on these boards, you know how the process works...

What everyone forgets is that everything on this car is run through the computer. Elon tweeted that something like 97% of passenger side lumbar support was never used. They don't need to wait to find out if it's being used; they have the data right in front of them. With that said, I do think...

The truth is that the SAs don't really owe you anything. They make no commission and have really no say on when your car arrives. When I test drove the car, the SAs were pretty clear that I should only expect to take delivery during the last month of the quarter, which has proven true for nearly...
