so....some Model S will be out of WARRANTY soon *battery pack pricing

While warranty work using refurbs is to be expected, because they are only on obligation to get you driving again, I think it is unacceptable to pay full price fora mystery refurb battery out of warranty. They either better offer brand new packs, or offer a 4-8 year warranty on the new pack or both.

    Accident with total loss

The sun visors in the model S are $350. You are surprised that that is $43k? I would be crossing my fingers that it was a total loss too. People who buy cars over $20,000 don't want to drive accident repaired vehicles. I wouldn't worry about how much they will offer you. While i am with...

    "Export" vs "Domestic" side mirrors

To be fair, that passenger side mirror is not legal in the US simply for the fact that it doesn't have a "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" As simple and silly as that is as a rejection to legality, if you get into the import world at all, it is little things like that that make it...

    Best Service Visit EVER!

As im on an original 2013 battery, im curious what you mean by "quit"? I have had my connectors replaced, but when i asked the service guys about battery failure (to which they said my P85 battery replacement out of warranty would be like $30,000.... yikes) they pretty much said they would be...

    Outside EV Charging Kiosk

my bad, i see it now. 6 gauge wire. 8 gauge ground.

    Outside EV Charging Kiosk

i maybe be scanning here to quickly, but 240 60amp should be run on 6 gauge not 8 gauge. 60amp breaker for a 48amp circuit. 8 gauge should be limited to 32amp output.

Tesla now using deep neural net for auto wipers (2019.40)

Good! I was not impressed with the wipers here in the PNW where it never rains hard, but just misty and light rain 24/7. I always found the wipers to not wipe at all, or go way more often than needed.

    Passenger reactions to full acceleration

I certainly think the quietness of the acceleration also allows you to focus on the feeling of the G's instead of the sounds which also heightens the experience.

    Tesla Cybrtrk

Maybe if it was on a truck that looked like it would have chipped away letters painted on. Not when its on a tesla though

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Obviously. But speaking in averages, should the average user expect to have to replace it every aprox 50-70k miles (you know, because most cars specify age of vehicles and maintenance programs by either months/years, or miles.... not hour runtime or starts and stops) For me, the end-user is what...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Yes, i do believe it is one unit on the older MCU's so the screen is also replaced. I didn't buy mine from Tesla, but mine was also purchased used, and the thought of having to replace a multi-thousand $ unit every 60k kinda defeats the purpose of the "less moving parts" motivational...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

So is the consensus then that the MCU will require being replaced every 50-70k miles??? That seems absurd, especially when its likely out of warranty by the first, and almost definitely by 120k.

    Sound Deadening Model 3

My model S is the quietest car I have ever driven. Certainly more quiet than BMW or Mercedes. On top of all noises being much more in your face because they aren't droned out by the engine.

Tesla forced an update of my P85D to 2019.16.2

*rolls eyes* buys most technological car on the planet and afraid of software updates.

50 hp software upgrade coming for Model S

Considering The P85 was released at like ~417hp, and then later revised to 469hp where it still sits and I have seen dyno tests of a P85 pulling over 500.... I would be surprised.
