FSD refund? Anyone taken tesla to the dispute tribunal over this?

What car would you replace your Model 3 with Rob? You’ve always been a staunch supporter on Stuff etc. I have the new Highland AWD and it’s very good. Other options are still weak IMO - Ioniq5 is fat & dull, Ioniq6 is butt ugly, i4 is crazy expensive, BYD Seal seems to have mixed reviews…

Tesla Model Y - Whilsting Noise Unresolved - Regret ever buying the car

Hi there, I had a temporary whistle on my 2019 Model 3 and it turned out to be the driver’s wing mirror. It must have got hit and the plastic casing had separated from the base somehow. I squeezed it fairly hard together, it went click - no more whistle!

Electric vehicle rebate and 'ute tax' killed off in December 2023

Except if you’re a landlord, then you get special welfare treatment because - you know - they’re an endangered class of people or something.

Electric vehicle rebate and 'ute tax' killed off in December 2023

Explain why my EV should pay x2 the amount of a petrol Camry Hybrid, when my EV is lighter. We’ve gone from using no RUC for EVs as an incentive, to paying twice the logical amount just because the Transport Minister can’t be bothered thinking about it. NZ now stands out as one of the very few...

Electric vehicle rebate and 'ute tax' killed off in December 2023

Fabulous chart mate. Very compelling. I’ve said it before but it bears saying again - the move to RUC for EVs and petrol cars is ad hoc and foolish policy. RUCs are an inefficient method of taxation especially for EVs. The tax was intended to recover the cost of heavy diesel trucks damaging...

Electric vehicle rebate and 'ute tax' killed off in December 2023

The current lot are not interested in solutions - they just want to smash anything the previous lot did. It’s not good government and it’s not good leadership. The first policy to go should be the FBT exemption on utes. It’s fundamentally flawed and encourages businesses to lease more utes...

    Model 3 Highland test drive

Hi all, I test drove the AWD LR Model 3 Highland yesterday. Coming from a 2019 SR+ the new vehicle was certainly quieter and more refined. It’s not a radical redesign but it certainly elevates the quality of the vehicle, likely to compete with BYD and VW etc. The absence of stalks was a bit...

How many Tesla's in New Zealand

Hmmm, those numbers are down quite a bit on 2022, which is odd considering the Clean Car Discount was in place all thru 2023. Competition from MG & BYD?

    Energy Sector News

That first article about exceptions to reporting under the Clean Air Act beggars belief. Local government can say the air is cleaner than it actually is, because “someone else’s” forest fire dirtied the air in their district? What is the point of air quality monitoring if you then change the...

Electric vehicle rebate and 'ute tax' killed off in December 2023

I think it’s a disastrous policy decision to scrap it. Policies like this need to be in place for 5-10 years to be effective. The key benefit was to grow the used EV market so folks could pickup decent EVs for $20k-40k with 300km+ range. With transport being our second largest source of...

Britomart car park Auckland Destination chargers

Too true - a mixed blessing of the normalisation of EVs. I do miss the “Tesla wave” from other drivers. It was a kinder, gentler time I guess.

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Has anyone noticed their ultrasonic circles have disappeared from the animated onscreen display? 2019 SR+ here.

NZ Superchargers opening up to other EVs

Oh, this will cause chaos in the always-popular Taupo supercharger, once that site is opened up to all others… I still resent this change actually. Too bad if you bought a EV6 or an i4 - go fast charge some place else at 50kW. Tesla paid for its charging network from Tesla car buyers!

The worst of all worlds - Police to use BMW i4s

According to Stuff the BMW i4 is under consideration for use as a patrol car - Fully electric BMW i4 joins NZ Police fleet as part of $1.7m trial This is the worst of all worlds - excessive purchase cost, bad PR for EVs, and marginal operational performance. The 80.7kWh battery supposedly takes...
