Slap in the face by Tesla - Trade-in value £20k less than I paid Tesla just 18 months ago.

£6167 of what you paid is VAT that goes to the government. You need to work out depreciation on the price without the VAT. So it's £14k. When they sell the car, the buyer will need to pay VAT on top of their price (but the price will be displayed to them as the total including VAT). Also - for...

Just Got Bitten By Tesla Supercharger Routing, Be Careful

There are Gridserve 60kW on the Northbound, or use the service road and barrier code to get over to soutbound.

Can Tesla UK increase new car cost on existing order?

They have done you a favour. Little point in buying new right at the end of its production run.

    Tow hitch bike racks

Ouch, that's overpriced! I'm using (and recommend) the Buzz Rack Buffalo available from www.roofbox.co.uk The cycles hang from their crossbars on this one and it has the advantage that the lighting board is higher up, instead of being down at ground level where tailgaters won't see the brake...

    Octopus Go versus Agile

Thanks - very helpful! After doing this it's necessary to go to the account dashboard. It will tell you that everything is ready for the switch (i.e. you already have a smart meter) and it's necessary to click the button to confirm the switch. The switch happens at midnight. I clicked the link...

    Agile plunge pricing predictions

    Yes the rates for tomorrow are eye watering! What's an EMN? 09:00 - 09:30 20.16 09:30 - 10:00 21.00 10:00 - 10:30 21.63 10:30 - 11:00 22.05 11:00 - 11:30 21.63 11:30 - 12:00 22.05 12:00 - 12:30 24.15 12:30 - 13:00 24.19 13:00 - 13:30 22.05 13:30 - 14:00 20.16 14:00 - 14:30 19.95 14:30 - 15:00...

    M3 Key Fob

Just double click the key fob to unlock the car and then the charge port can be opened, there's no need to open a door. I bought a fob because my phone had naff bluetooth and the fob just works. Yes it does auto lock when you walk away from the car - the early original M 3 key fob did not but...

Ionity, LOL. 67p/kWh from 1st Feb

Ahhhha so drivers of Audis etc may get more sensible rates? That's quite a clever response to the Tesla supercharger network (where others cannot charge at all). They now get a network for a few brands and keep the Tesla owners off it except when desperate.

    Home charging

Do you have any sockets inside near the outer wall? You may be able to get an electrician to spur off one of those, through the wall to an outside socket. The UK 3-pin charger runs at 10 amps. Possibly an electrician might fit a spur to an outdoor 16 amp commando socket which would charge at...

    The Beast of Burbage

Can I put my car into your account too please? I want to buy the Acceleration Boost upgrade and do some supercharging. Thanks.

    Frunk Hooks

I leave the hooks raised all the time - they are really useful for holding shopping bags and there's no reason to put them down again. Removing them seems like a cheapskate move on a car with a luxury price tag. Are new drivers meant to instead use the frunk for charge cables and the sub boot...

    USB controller for games

The 8bitdo SN30 bluetooth controller works well and takes up much less space than the xbox-style controllers. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07GKLG3ZP You need a bluetooth dongle for each controller (i.e. two dongles if you have two controllers)...

    EO Pro Mini or Zappi

I spoke too soon! "There is still an issue with the Tesla failing to wake up when the Zappi starts a boost or ECO+ charge – this is due to the Tesla firmware. We understand that they are working on a new release which will fix this problem which affects all smart chargers."

    EO Pro Mini or Zappi

The Zappi has benefits even if you don't have solar: It does not require an earth rod. Does not require an external RCD. It has a CT clamp to measure the energy draw of the house so it can throttle back charging if the house is drawing a lot of current - potentially useful if you have some...
