    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

They are most likely not going to open up to something like this as it leads to tampering... Any commodity flash storage device could be soldered to the MCU, say a micro SD reader like we use on modern enterprise servers. This would make more sense from a servicing standpoint for sure but my...

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

My exact words to SC when dropping off my failed MCU1... Can I pay to upgrade to MCU2? No... I am outside of the warranty so they are expecting me to pay and still drive off with an MCU1... Now maybe this will change a few months from now...we will see.

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

I would stress to anyone experiencing the early signs of MCU failure and is handy to remove and send out their tegra for preventative replacement by a third party. It’s definitely an inconvenience for several days but beats waiting a month or longer without your vehicle. They were able to get...

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

They don’t really care as these failures are typically outside the warranty period. So for them, continuing to release new features satisfies their customer base at the expense of the consumer...

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

I didn’t want to tread into that territory with no manufacturer support and how heavily these cars rely on software updates but yes, for some this path would work.

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

Too funny...about 5 months ago just a few weeks after my warranty expired the screen started to bubble...service tech says this is typical electronics and just cough up the $1k to replace. I asked what would happen if my MCU failed shortly after and they tried to tell me it’s extremely rare and...

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

Has anyone compiled a list of these issues broken down by year and mileage? I would be happy to create a database and send a quick survey link. It would be helpful to have an independent database for these issues related to MCU...

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

Did they goodwill this or what was the charge? My blinkers are not working at all I have tested this having my wife check while I am in the car. Only the hazards work. Can’t wait for Tesla to tell me tomorrow it’s going to cost $2500 to replace with another MCU1. Has anyone been able to get...

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

My MCU1 failed yesterday and now I have no blinkers. I’d say that’s definitely a safety issue!

Model S: DANGEROUS Retracting Door Handle !!!

There is absolutely no safety issue with the door handle design whatsoever. I have had multiple handles replaced and viewed the spring inside the handle. The spring isn’t even strong enough to pinch your finger let alone cut your finger. I did see someone posting about this same issue on a fb...

    Rear Quarter Rocker Panel Issue

Has anyone had this issue where the plastic part comes loose? I tried to get it back into place but it seems like the plastic is bent.

Both Screens Black After Entering - Come Back On After Brake

Well now it’s happening while the vehicle is plugged in so no improvements it’s actually worse. Also I typically start my day with 209rm after losing 3rm overnight. Today I am at 204rm so significant phantom draw overnight after this update.
