Rear Drive Unit Failure on my new Model Y

My 2021 MY has 33k miles and was today diagnosed as having a rear drive unit failure. No big bangs or clunks just a whirring sound that increased with speed, sounding like an impeller with a bad bearing or something. Technician said it's a multi day repair.

Peppermint Oil spray solution under Frunk Area

I use peppermint oil too sprayed around the bottom of the tires figuring they would crawl up that way.

    Aftermarket Trailer Hitch Cover

I just got this too. Fits securely, spring loaded clips keep it tight. Easy enough to remove. Glad I found this thanks to comments on this forum. Purchased via Amazon.

    Model 3 12v battery dead

66,400 miles on our 2018 M3 before the battery died away from home. Used the porthole method of opening the frunk, jumped the battery with my truck, drove home without headlights working, just the DRLs worked. Took it to Tesla SC the next day. They put in a new battery. In and out in 30 minutes...

    FS: ~New Model Y Performance 21" Uberturbine Wheels + Tires + TPMS + Caps

That lowball offer is the kind of crap I would expect from Craigslist and OfferUP. Just ridiculous.

Anyone get an insurance quote from Costco recently?? $406 for 2 vehicles

Connect by AmFam through Costco has been excellent. I have had one non-driving damage claim and a windshield repair. They have been the best, always easy to contact and get responses from. As others replied, their rates are unbeatable for me. Nobody comes close. Tesla insurance was almost 2X higher.

Please chime in if you are getting tint and/or a wrap

Tinted 2021 MY with SunTek 70% ceramic on windshield, carbon 35% on two front side windows for $390 total in the San Diego area. Rear side and back windows were dark enough. No PPF though. Also tinted all 8 windows on wife's 2018 M3 including windshield, 6 side windows and rear roof/trunk...

Things to do or get for first time owners

Mine did. It's very small and hard to see but it's on the LH side and it has already been formatted. I took delivery the first week of March.

    California LR AWD Waiting Room

Yes, that's correct. Take your VIN plate, switch it around to the right facing outward 90 degrees down by the rear door hinge and that's where I found it. Weird.

Most practical charging set up for 2 Tesla vehicles

My wife and I alternate using the one Tesla wall charger we have. It hasn't been a problem yet. She has a LR Model 3 and I have the LR Model Y. So far there's always been a sharing opportunity even if one of us schedules a charge after midnight (for less expensive electricity rates here in So Cal.)

for those that ordered MY SR originally, how many of you have converted your order to the LR AWD?

I was at ease with my order for a SR also. My suggestion: order the LR version - you won't regret it once you see how actual driving affects expected mileage. I ordered my SR on 2-18 and became totally disappointed in the ensuing B.S. and confusion about what "off menu" actually meant. Not even...

    California LR AWD Waiting Room

I missed it. Added a correction above. It's not where I have ever seen one but it's there.

How many miles did your car come with?

15 miles actual and on paperwork.

    California LR AWD Waiting Room

Notice to those who care: There is no "build plate" on the drivers door jamb on my new MY. None. None on any door jamb either or on any door, frunk or trunk. I know what you are talking about. Every other car of mine has one but not this one. Still wondering why. CORRECTION: I found it. It's...
