    Update to replacing headrests

Pretty easy to take them out you just have to take a flathead screwdriver and push a couple pins to the side and then the headrest should come out there's videos on that. Once you have the headrest out give it some measurements or just take it to the junkyard with you to make sure you find...

Replacing the headrest in the model 3/S-Maybe this helps someone

Hello, here's a quick update on what I did with the headrests. I think I made an improvement I grabbed these off of an old Audi in the junkyard. You have to take them to a machine shop to get the metal bars extended a couple inches so the seat back is held in. Remember there's two wire pins...

    Update to replacing headrests

Here's an update to replacing the ridiculous headrests that Tesla comes with. I went to a junkyard and got these off of an old Audi I think. They're much wider so it allows me much more liberty to move my head from side to side as I adjust body position on longer road trips. I did have to take...

I'd say non-adjustable headrests or head restraints on cars does not represent the majority of manufacturers by any means for a reason. Seems like a no-brainer

Yes, making sure your head and neck are properly restrained is a pretty huge safety issue as well as comfort

So everybody in the world needs their head restraint in the exact same spot? That makes a lot of sense

It is adjustable, even though there are no dents it's a pretty tight fit so you can move it up and down as you wish without it moving

Exactly, so if Tesla made adjustable head restraints or headrests then people could actually adjust them to their needs! Novel idea huh?

Comfort and safety are very closely related when we spend as much time in our cars as we do as Americans

For the most part yes. You may be able to find some exceptions with niche sports cars but headrests or head restraints are adjustable in the vast majority of passenger cars for a reason. It's simply more safe to have a head rest that is adjustable for many different types of bodies that frequent...

Replacing the headrest in the model 3/S-Maybe this helps someone

There are two main problems with the way that Tesla does their headrest. First of all, it doesn't go up or down so there's a limit to how tall somebody can be and have it work for them. I am over this limit. Secondly, it's very narrow, so there's very little ability for the driver to shift...

Using this logic any modification you would ever do to your car could be considered a safety modification to be honest. Tesla makes such a weird car in some ways it's almost impossible not to modify it in some way to meet somebody's personal needs. A comfortable driver is going to be the safest...

Replacing the headrest in the model 3/S-Maybe this helps someone

I don't think so I think it's a reasonable aftermarket modification done with safety and comfort in mind

May actually file a NHTSA complaint about the headrest or the head restraints on this car because I do not think they are adjustable enough to fit a broad enough spectrum of body types in a safe and comfortable fashion.

Pick your poison i guess I wouldn't say that driving in a very uncomfortable position as a very tall person is very safe either. I doubt this would be an insurance issue they are still had restraints and they fit very solidly. I'd rather be in a comfortable driving position as far as safety is...
