"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

I second this. I installed camber shims at 500 miles and my original tires are still perfect at 10k miles with plenty of tread left.

5000 miles in. No issues, knock on wood. I’m beginning to wonder if I’m in the category of people who just don’t notice but that would be out of character for me.

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

Lol yep. It’s largely experimental to see if I can avoid the vibration. I will eventually have some fun with it. TBH the biggest reason I went plaid is I like the carbon fiber trim better than the wood, plus the red calipers, and the inventory car was 10k off.

New car update: 1800 miles, no vibrations yet. April 10 build - S Plaid Installed macsboost shims at 600 miles Zero launches. Non aggressive driving style.

No, ultrasonic radar is gone as of January I believe. Hardware 4 teardowns have confirmed there’s an HD radar unit in the front bumper that currently doesn’t do anything. It’s Tesla, so nothing is a guarantee, but when/if they enable it in future software it should return the radar accuracy we...

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

Hi guys. Quick addition to the thread. I have a new model S plaid with an April 10 build date, hardware 4 and all the latest parts. I have also installed the Mac boost camber shims to improve the rear tire wear. I am about 700 miles in, so far, no issues and no vibrations. I will continue to...

It’s baffling that apparently “good ones” do exist, right? So that would lead you to believe the issue stems from a manufacturing variance but of which parts? Nobody seems to know. If the whole thing is a sonic resonance as some are suggesting, it could be a combination of so many build variances.

    Hardware 4 vin numbers

Oh well. I don’t need the city navigation but I will miss the FSD beta on the highway. It is so much better than the advanced autopilot.

    Hardware 4 vin numbers

Ok then I’m guessing this is not a case of simply just updating to the latest available firmware after delivery? Is this a case where if it was shipped with a certain firmware it works but later versions disabled access to it on purpose?

    Hardware 4 vin numbers

Is anyone able to answer this question? If I transfer my FSD, which currently has access to the beta, will I automatically have access to the 4.0 beta or does it just revert to non-access? I see there are a select few people who have FSD beta on hardware 4 but not sure how they got it.

Audiophile Question - FLAC 24/96 Playback

Yes that’s exactly my point. Virtually no product uses a high quality DAC by default. If you want one, you are buying something that is designed for audiophiles. This is exactly the reason I think it’s so stupid that Tesla won’t allow an analog input, but it wouldn’t be pure anyway. The DSP...

New to this thread as it looks highly likely I’ll be taking delivery soon. Can someone tell me if this vibrating issue is mainly a sensation or is it clearly audible as well? If it’s loud, that would be considerably more of a problem IMO

Audiophile Question - FLAC 24/96 Playback

Yes, I’m not saying definitively that there is an audible difference given the quality of the rest of the system, I’m only saying it is most likely downsampling the files. I don’t have a newer Tesla yet but with my 2019 I’ve found the biggest thing you can do to improve the sound is dampening...

Audiophile Question - FLAC 24/96 Playback

I have been using FLAC 24/96 up to 24/192 in my Tesla, however it is important to note that just because the car can decode those files, it does not mean the DAC is preserving the sample rates. The vast majority of hardware will simply take the hi-res files and down sample them to a max of 24/48...
