Can't get a Model S to Hotham/Dinner Plain legally in winter

Thanks for the update. Looks like there might be some options. In the mean time it hasn't stopped me from writing to Mount Hotham Resort Management urging a review of their ban on spider chains: "...It is also rather ironic that in order to enjoy the skiing at mount Hotham I must resort to a...

Can't get a Model S to Hotham/Dinner Plain legally in winter

I did think of that but the supercharger is in Euroa and the Omeo way is 453km from home. The car starts telling me to slow down well before I threaten to exhaust the maximum rated range - and I'm a pretty firm believer that 100km/h roads shouldn't be driven at 80. Can't be done unless I...

Can't get a Model S to Hotham/Dinner Plain legally in winter

Here's something... even though there are at least a couple of HPWC's at Dinner Plain you can't use Tesla approved snow chains on your Model S to get there in Winter. Turns out that the ones that Tesla sell/endorse are "spider" chains that are banned on the Mount Hotham road and the only design...

    Autopilot Experiences in Australia

AP got confused on the Tullamarine Fwy when I was driving through that elevated sound barrier/tube/tunnel thing at Kensington in Melbourne. The structure was casting line-width shadows on the road that ran parallel to the lane markings, were spaced about a lane-width apart and were offset from...

Suggestions for planning a Victorian ski trip

Mount Buller descent: Generated 1.5kWh over 16km of driving. When's the last time an ICE made petrol by driving downhill? Is there a world record for electricity production from downhill driving?

The environment and our emissions - who cares?

I figured I was going to be paying the connection fee anyway regardless of the volume of energy I import... so didn't include it.

The environment and our emissions - who cares?

You should be able to request green power from any electricity retailer - this sends price signals through the electricity and REC markets in the "right" direction (if you believe that sustainable electricity is worth pursuing as a society). I'm getting mine through Origin, and so far I...

Melbourne - Mount Buller day trip September 26.. Is this courageous?

Normal height. But yes it has air suspension to (afterward) lift the car off anything that I negligently drive over. In this case it didn't scrape at all. You're the second person to immediately point out my parking bravado/recklessness. (I've been driving land rovers for so long I forget that...

Melbourne - Mount Buller day trip September 26.. Is this courageous?

I did have a read of the thread. Slow-charging at destinations is ace because you end up talking to more people. Nonetheless the Buller day-trip was a total success. I reckon there was probably an extra 20 minutes due to Euroa diversion (rather than the most direct route) but otherwise...

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

Took a punt that the Euroa supercharger would be there and working on Saturday to get to Mount Buller and back for a day's Spring skiing... win! 15/20 minutes of supercharging in each direction for peace of mind. Reckon I could probably just do one super-charge on the way home ... but I've only...

Melbourne - Mount Buller day trip September 26.. Is this courageous?

So I've seen some pics of what seems to be a supercharger at the Shell in Euroa. By my calculations this should make a day-trip from Melbourne to Mount Buller and back a doddle. Has anyone used the supercharger there? Is it open? I'm thinking about doing this tomorrow (before the snow runs out)...

Has anyone used Tesla Finance in Australia?

Can vouch for Tesla finance... It's actually Macquarie Leasing... straightforward, competitive interest rate (note not totally the cheapest... Stratton found something 0.2% cheaper). Went with Tesla/Mac because the one stop shop eases the paperwork that can get messy when a car has two motors...

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

This is exciting news. Was really surprised about the route to Mt Buller from Melbourne being only 7 minutes longer (Google maps) going through Euroa rather than Tallarook. This makes weekend or even day snow trips in the P85D a real thing. 150km to Euroa, 110km to Mount Buller, one 15/30 minute...
