Does the roof cost include installation? If not, I suspect that would add some significant costs-- I doubt a local roofer can install these.

What about the Pacifica Hybrid? It's a plug in and should get 30 electric miles, so useful for short trips (in town) and 30mpg on the hwy.

I'm surprised that they didn't goodwill this... the car isn't that old and you didn't do anything to cause this. I would expect this from any car less than 10 years old.

On the one hand, I'm glad you caught this. On the other hand, what would have happened if the crack wasn't visible but beneath the hood? Not fun to contemplate.

@Snowstorm-- kudos to you for being so patient and calm. I would be more than a little upset, but Tesla seems to do the right thing and there should be no question here that a new car is in order.

Ugh... that's just awful. It really shouldn't fall on a customer to catch these types of things. Sounds like QC has to happen more rigorously, rather than by the customer in delivery day.

Somehow they need to figure out what other manufacturers have figured out... how to have a lineup that doesn't compete with itself. BMW and Mercedes don't seem to have a problem selling 3-series / C-class alongside 5-series / E-class cars. The overlap between these isn't trivial, but the size...
