The earlier D models had this style frunk. You can see it is similar to a RWD but it is sectioned off smaller. The revised D models are smaller.

Even though the gas stations don't have power to pump gas, that doesn't mean the Superchargers have electricity to charge Teslas either...

Still, that argument seems weak... If people left the city with their ICE cars to a location with gas availability, there would be no worries either...
