Customer Service [bad service center experience]

This is so true. My service experience has been horrible, mostly in the quality of parts and repair job (and Tesla refusing to stand by their work and fix). I love my car but think service is an area where they need to improve. I will definitely be contemplating an Apple car for my next vehicle...

    2019 LR RWD Model 3 w/ FSD & HW3 (LA)

Oof. Sorry. The market space for used Teslas is small and idiosyncratic and hardly a perfect or “rational” one, especially during CV19. It is hard to peg an absolute value to these things and so I imagine there are quite a few sales in which the final transaction price is several thousand above...

    2019 LR RWD Model 3 w/ FSD & HW3 (LA)

With the $1,200 delivery fee, cheapest LR AWD new is $56k and CA rebate brings down to $54k. So I’m $5k under that, with MSM paint and Homelink, no noisemaker, and lower insurance premiums. This is also not a “I have to sell my car right now” situation so if there are no bites there are no bites.

    2019 LR RWD Model 3 w/ FSD & HW3 (LA)

I saw some 2018s with high miles and accidents in the low 40s, but have yet to see a 2019 with low miles and no accidents and FSD/HW3 in that range. If you have a link though that would be great to see. Thanks!

    2019 LR RWD Model 3 w/ FSD & HW3 (LA)

I love this car but I’m tired of obsessing over it, and would be good to save some money too. Specs: 2019 LR RWD Model 3 Midnight Silver Metallic Black Interior 18” Aero Wheels FSD (HW3 factory installed) 9,500 miles Rated 325 miles range, full charge lately is around 318 miles or so (may just...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

Nope. You are saying that in order for a hypothesis to be true, it must be proven *specifically* by the person who thought up said hypothesis. I am saying that neither the hypothesis nor science cares *who* proves or disproves a hypothesis. Hence I don’t find arguments of “well this scientist...

Well there’s a thing, sudden unintended acceleration just happened to me

Out of curiosity @Marc Roberts are your brake lights working? There is a hypothesis that a brake light fault could be causing unintended acceleration. (Not necessarily the case that the brake lights don’t turn on, I believe, but certainly would be interesting to know.) Regen causing unintended...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. If I say “the Earth is round” you would not (hopefully) say “it is flat, unless YOU prove otherwise.” In any case thank you to the folks who read the article and at least considered what he had to say. I hope Tesla or the NHTSA do...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

Cool, got it. Let’s discourage—forbid even—any future inquiries or studies (study, since this appears to be the first one raising the question) into whether brake light faults may have unintended consequences with Bosch brakes. Good things happen when corporations and regulators bury their heads...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

I’m still waiting for someone—anyone—to debunk his theory that brake light faults may interact with the Bosch brake module and EV Regen to cause unintended acceleration. I’d welcome that. But all I see are people saying “well he’s been wrong in the past so he must be wrong now too,” or, “anyone...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

Yup. I think you misunderstand how science works. It’s not like on the movies. It’s tough work and more disproven hypotheses than proven ones. Fits and starts and dead ends abound. No one has convinced me (or will) why his conclusions in this article do not at least deserve careful...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

Honestly this guy sounds like a pretty good scientist to me. He has come up with a theory, acknowledged that he may well be wrong, and is asking others to test his theory (which is proper; even if he did test his theories himself, someone else should retest).

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

Rather than finding fault with the scope of this particular paper (and he talks about the complexities of testing the brake fault hypothesis), I believe the safe and responsible thing would be for Tesla and Bosch and the other companies (let alone the regulators) to at least look at and consider...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

From what I understand, this is a retired (in his late 70s I believe) engineer who volunteers his time with this nonprofit and sort of does these papers as a hobby. I don’t think the onus is (or should be) on him or the organization to do this sort of testing, since he’s already providing a...

Regen causing unintended acceleration, according to new study?

This new scientific article, below, seems like a huge big deal. Basically it sounds as though EVs, including Teslas, may be interacting with Bosch brakes to in essence short circuit (especially when the brake lights error code is triggered) and accelerate due to loss of regen/addition of motor...
