Pretty sure there not needed on any car nowadays amount that don’t use them🤷🏼‍♂️. But I’ll try remember🤣, never had any issues with previous beemers so should be ok😜

Well took a bit of a detour after test driving all the cars I mentioned. XC60 - gearbox like waking grandad up after a couple of whisky, when wanting to accelerate. Wife didn’t like the narrow footwells caused by massive centre console either. F-Pace - gearbox a bit quicker but still slow to...

I have had the AEB come on when I went around a bend (in Cologne iirc). It saw a pedestrian on the pavement and came on (no one was in danger). Thought the car had broken for a second before I realised what was happening. That was on a previous car when AEB was fairly new though, hence my...

Why would I keep something I don’t personally get on with? That’s a bit monk horsehair shirtish to me. The tech, the plastic seats, awful windscreen wipers aren’t going to change and the cruise is only going to get more overbearing in the push to automate everything🤷🏼‍♂️ I don’t use the...

maybe it is, maybe I misunderstood it’s purpose but never having been in a position of needing automated braking I couldn’t say for sure

And that sums it up perfectly for UK. You leave a TACC (or adaptive CC) acceptable gap & some prat pulls into it causing Tacc to panic. Unfortunately plebian fecktards have been allowed to breed in UK and spawned even more plebian fecktards, then just to screw with everyone else, they’ve been...

Pretty much sums up my feeling about the car in general tbf. Ducks & covers 🪖

As I already said, I visit cities very little, never liked them from being a kid. I don’t drive that often in commuter traffic nor rush time either😁, in that respect I consider myself very fortunate. My commute to work is a 90mile journey once every 2 weeks now and around mid afternoon on those...

I only used cruise when traffic is flowing, never if traffic is heavy. Most modern cars under 10yr old now have autonomous emergency braking so it’s an issue that’s been made up to sell a gizmo, based on a problem that doesn’t necessitate it imo. Having said that it seems the post has become...

Cars with dumb cruise have automatic braking too but only in emergency situations. They don’t suddenly slow down randomly when changing lanes, which does happen in my M3. Nor do they switch the wipers onto auto when switching on cruise, something that has happened during a recent update🤷🏼‍♂️

I disagree you can see a long way in front and react to it easily without thinking about applying the brakes. I’m certainly smoother than any adaptive cruise that I’ve tried which only reacts to the car immediately in front. Love the tarring of BMW / SUV drivers too, I’ve seen many cases of...

Probably a lot of it is the anticipation of when are the brakes coming on and when is it going to accelerate once the road is clear. I know when I’m going to use a control I don’t know when the TACC will. Never liked fairground / amusement park rides either tbf, TACC reminds me of both🤣

Depends how you drive or want to drive. If you’ve always been someone who drives watching the car immediately in front and braking then TACC won’t feel much different. If however you’ve always driven anticipating by watching several cars in front then braking to slow down is a last resort. It’s...
