Model Y arrives tomorrow, is FSD Beta available (considering the recall)?

I've been watching drive alongs and it seems pretty nice compared to where it was in 2022! Very excited for how they implement E2E in v12!

Model Y arrives tomorrow, is FSD Beta available (considering the recall)?

Yep! I'm a longtime user and contributor of Openpilot on Toyota vehicles, I actually picked up the Model 3 just to try out FSD Beta and sold it a month later as I'm not into playing the games with safety score. Made money due to pandemic pricing, nutty times. I have realistic expectations...

Model Y arrives tomorrow, is FSD Beta available (considering the recall)?

I sold my Model 3 back in 2022 after never getting into the FSD Beta, was super bummed out. With my Model Y arriving tomorrow, should it be just as easy as paying for the sub and activating it? Or, are invites locked down due to the current recall?

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

A month or so later and I have my roof top tent on, a 200W solar panel with Battleborn Lithium heated battery, inverter, jack, shovel, axe, HAM radio, haha. I have a mount coming today to install Starlink on my Jeep! Funnest car I've ever owned so far! I don't commute for work and have only...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

My partner was remarking around how engine and car designers have such a hard time when cars have been around for 100 years. I replied with something about variable valve timing and figuring out better economy as engines progress, but then got to ranting about how the US automakers prevented...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

Yeah, used ones and "death wobble" is a real concern. I bought mine new with an extended warranty, so I'm not worried too much. I also work from home and don't put many miles on my cars. When you RV, you see Jeeps everywhere as most people get them to flat tow. I paused at getting a smart due...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

Truth be told, I burnt out and left the OP community after being a mod and around there since 2019. I can't stand George Hotz, either and I think the narcissistic tech bro culture isn't something that people should support. I did manage to help get Open Source hardware going with the Retropilot...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

It's funny, I have made fun of Chryslers for years. Only owned one other and the transmission blew up, a used Cherokee. Seems 2020 3.6v engines are blowing up due to crappy valvetrain design, we shall see. There aren't very many automatic vehicles that can be flat towed behind an RV. I was...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

BogGyver will have OP specific hardware available for the HW2+ available in about two weeks! I'm bummed out I'm going to miss it. > Agreed, I'm no fan of Elon Musk for many reasons that I won't go into, but I have to hand it to him: He created a successful, and totally different kind of car...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

I've been a long-time contributor of openpilot, I've driven with the OSS stack across a Prius Prime and Rav 4 before switching to a Model 3 as I was curious what autonomy looked like on the other side of the pond. Once the initial novelty wore off of all of the features and easter eggs, the...

Tesla FSD beta safety score reset

The only way that worked for me was to unsubscribe from FSD, wait a month, then re-sub.

Say hello to an FSD/AP alternative, Comma Openpilot; OSS vehicle autonomy

We are a step closer! We released our open source relay hardware here: https://github.com/RetroPilot/OpenRelay I also know of a community member who works with Tesla vehicles who is designing a specific HW2/3 relay to reduce hardware and cabling. It's not my news to share, yet, so I'm...

When to give up waiting on FSD Beta

Stopped giving them money and never have been happier. If you wanna tinker, try out openpilot, code is fully OSS https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/say-hello-to-an-fsd-ap-alternative-comma-openpilot-oss-vehicle-autonomy.266886/

Tesla Working on Driver Monitoring System

Good to know they are finally working on catching up to Openpilot. Fingers crossed they copy their code so it's half usable: https://github.com/commaai/openpilot/tree/master/selfdrive/monitoring

Or just not worry about it and have good insurance. If someone wants your car, they will get it one way or another.
