    Western Canada Superchargers

That Minnedosa route will work for us pulling a trailer. But still hoping Neepawa happens. Any more rumours on Neepawa?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah. Those of us who tow with an EV know all that and can figure it out from there. But the size of the battery is key for us to make an educated estimate on how far we can tow our trailers. Just wondering if anyone had seen a real number on battery size. Cheers.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Starting to see lots of specs leak out re Cybertruck weights etc. Curious if anyone has seen estimations on battery sizes yet. Lots of people on Facebook guesstimating towing ranges.

    Mexico Superchargers

Yah. It splits once you get closer to maz so it would probably take closer to a dozen sites. Still, hoping to see this corridor someday. Probably not till after a factory in Mexico is up and running. 2027 maybe.

Was there any mention of the Semi? I might have skipped over it. Anything on actual production plans or are they just stating with the pilot production.

Thanks for the reply. I get that.

    Mexico Superchargers

I have asked this question before but would be curious on everyone’s opinion on whether Tesla will be building a solid supercharger corridor between the US west to Mexico City and puerta Vallarta. Eg. A reliable supercharger every 200 kilometres or so. To date there seems very little interest in...

I see they started on Yorkton. Now do Russell and Neepawa.

Maybe. But it’s been a year or more already. If they haven’t got it figured out by now I doubt they will.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

We took a friend for a test drive a couple weeks ago. Took them thru the whole charge process which he liked. Did a summons but explained it was only on older cars and no longer available on new cars. Did an auto park but explained that it’s also discontinued as there are also no longer...

I don’t get the “same price as a Corolla” thing though. The Corolla is way cheaper. What am I missing?

True. I never thought of it from that angle. 👍

Charging moat? The supercharger network will be open to most EV’s within a year. How is that a moat?

    FSD discussion

11.4.7.2 has been fairly smooth for us. But the problem of darting into a right turn lane thinking it’s another lane on the highway is still there. Tried it 3 times. Failed all three. Stay on the ball folks. Gotta be quick.

Will Cybertruck have backup trailer assist

Agreed. But to date tesla has not addressed it. To be clear, their solution to the charge line 16 to 12 volt difference on model Y and X’s was to simply disable the charge line. So for example, our charge line on our 2022 Y constantly puts a charge on our trailer’s battery while driving or in...

Will Cybertruck have backup trailer assist

A step down transformer wouldn’t work but a DC to DC converter would. But I’m not aware of anyone making a DC to DC converter that is plug and play on a 7 pin trailer plug. It would have to be a home brew.

Will Cybertruck have backup trailer assist

Other towing question would be will there be a 12 volt charge line on the 7 pin connector bring there is a 16 volt system (or is it 48 volts) for the automotive systems. They have already eliminated the charge line on the Y and X. As well, will there be a brake controller built in? 16 volt...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

On the bottom of the screen of our local news channel there is a scrolling headline type thing. Every 5 minutes or so they are showing a headline indicating that Russia is recruiting an additional 350,000 troops. Did they slip a decimal point or something or is this old news?

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Thanks for the reply. I’m not up enough on how the American system works but I do understand that the American congress does carry a lot of weight. I am less clear on how presidential vetoes work so not sure if he/she can just stop shipments and trade to another country. Hopefully NATO...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

It doesn’t get talked about because it’s a sensitive topic, but how will a US republican government headed by trump affect the supply chain of Ukraine. According to some American friends of ours it’s kinda looking like he will win next year. I think Ukraine and the free world needs to consider...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So curious how they will integrate the 48 volts into things like 12 volt trailer brake controllers, trailer battery charge lines etc. Wonder if the Cybertruck will have its own trailer brake controller. Should be interesting.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Very informative. Thank you. So I’m assuming this is what will go in the Cybertruck. Has the slow charge curve or however it’s expressed improved as well?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That would be sweet. I understood most of that but not sure what V2 means reference 4680’s. Is that version 2? If so are they now making a second version of the 4680 format? Thanks in advance.
  33. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I don’t know. Putting their worst performing battery in their highly anticipated newest product. Seems sketchy. And people are already saying things like whatever you buy make sure it doesn’t have a 4680 battery. Just sayin.

2023 AWD or LR Model Y

Thank you. Disappointing. The 4680’s seem like a dud. Tesla needs to get out in front of this and indicate what’s happening with them. 2 years ago everyone was saying to wait until the 4680’s were out. Now I see repeated warnings about them and to get the 2170’s. Here in Canada there is only...

2023 AWD or LR Model Y

Which has the 4680’s. The AWD or the LR?
  36. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Thanks for the detailed brief. So are Model Y LR being built only in Austin or are they also built in Fremont? Does the buyer know or have a choice in which factory the car comes from? I assume Chinese model Y’s are a different battery manufacturer.
  37. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I see less discussion lately on the 4680 battery progress. We have a couple of local Facebook groups and it’s common to see people recommend against any vehicle with the 4680 battery due to various reasons including slow charging and other issues. A huge change from two years ago where everyone...

Hi Flybone and congrats on the T@B. Fellow T@B puller here. Re-unhitching. We have an unhitch down to 1 minute and a hitch up to a minute and a half and that includes a second person checking. So first thing to do when un-hooking is make sure your wheels are chocked. It’s embarrassing...

Harris Ranch superchargers powered by diesel generators??? Really?

There are a couple of diesel power plants on that property. Neither is anywhere near the size they would have to be to power superchargers. Having said that I haven’t been there in awhile so maybe they added something. Has anyone seen a large diesel plant there? They have the little one by...

Harris Ranch superchargers powered by diesel generators??? Really?

Yah. But that’s not what happened here. It was just a temporary generator that was used for three months while testing the battery swap tech. It started in March of 2015 and was over by June 2015.

Harris Ranch superchargers powered by diesel generators??? Really?

Yah. As noted above it’s a regurgitated story from 2015 involving the test battery swap site.

Harris Ranch superchargers powered by diesel generators??? Really?

Hi folks. Saw this story pop up on my feed. Seems weird. We have been to Harris ranch a number of times and I don’t recall seeing a diesel generator powering the superchargers. Has anyone noticed this? Is it maybe for general back up power for the service station etc? Here’s the link...
