Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Ours does this all the time on TACC. In BC where the roads are curvy these signs are common. One has to constantly correct back to the speed limit. Makes TACC unuseable.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Totally agree. An option for a 1970’s style cruise control where it just keeps the speed would be soooo nice. TACC and FSD at this point are no longer get useable for basic highway cruising. I get that this will get fixed someday but until then they need to make a basic cruise control available...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Wonder what actual production is though. I don’t I have seen a peep about what their limited production is.

FSD and level 5 don’t belong in the same sentence. :)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Good points. It’s true. One thinks if ford and GM as huge entities but as you mentioned, not so much for EV’s.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It concerns me a little that there wasn’t an immediate release of new “coming soon” supercharger sites after the announcements of ford and GM to switch to NCAS. They must have known for awhile that this was coming. I would have thought with the extra traffic load that the existing network will...

So I wonder what the future of magic dock is now?
  8. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yep. Phantom breaking is worse, reads speed recommendations for curves as speed limits and darts into turn lanes thinking they are another lane. Some improvement in smoothness in cities and more human like around bikes and passengers. Overall though it’s a step back. Jmho.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I wonder what the tow hook rating actually is? Can a tow truck hook onto it and pull it up a snowy embankment out of a ditch? I don’t think I have seen any tesla guidance on this.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

In my opinion it would just turn people off FSD. The latest version is a complete train wreck. We can’t even use basic TACC anymore as every suggested curve speed is read as a speed limit so wether it’s a 80 kmh, 60 kmh or 40 kmh curve that’s the new speed the cruise or FSD sets at. Plus every...

No. 100 percent for road trips. There are lots of folks pulling trailers with model Y’s. It makes a difference. Hope they make it available someday again.
  12. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Dissapointing that the longer range american built AWD model Y is no longer available in Canada. Now it’s only the shorter range Chinese version. Hope that changes someday.
  13. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So, the new model 3 has greater range? I’ve been trying to find something on that. Any links? I wonder if a model Y long range remake will have greater range as well. About 18 months would be perfect timing. 😊
  14. W

Does the 12 volt accessory plug in the trunk area of the Y stay active if car is turned off?

Good to know. We’ll be doing this in a few weeks.
  15. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’d like more info on the ford deal for supercharger access. What kind of monetary compensation, what change or acceleration to supercharger installation will take place and if ford will pick up some of that bill. Maybe projected additional revenue from ford dealers. Might be interesting.
  16. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Maybe, but other than some minor improvents FSD still makes most of the same mistakes it made a year ago. And the major street extension and highway intersection change that was done just down from our neighbourhood 5 years ago still doesn’t show on their maps. Every time I come home from our...

Good point. I wouldn’t have thought of that angle.
  18. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I would be super surprised if it didn’t. Raises another question though. Will fords have both ports or will they need a CCS adapter to use a CCS station?
  19. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Rivian missed the boat on this. Hooking up with tesla/NACS would be a significant plus for them at this point. Jmho.
  20. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So it’s not clear. Will ALL superchargers be open to fords or just select superchargers?
  21. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Hard to say. We are pretty loyal tesla custumers and they have treated us good. But with this news I’m thinking that next week we’ll be taking a ford lightning for a test drive… just for giggles and grins. 😊
  22. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah. Same here. Our service centre is 5 hours away. We have bought two teslas there and never had to go back. They have been super reliable for us. We had one ranger call where the tech came to the driveway for a minor item (what other company would do that). And our model Y sees hard miles. Of...

    Acceleration Boost Question

No affect. We got it because we thought it would be handy to have extra horsepower when towing our trailer. (It isn’t but the car is way more fun). Cheers.

Super good explanation Mike. Would you mind if I take a screen shot of the pertinent paragraphs and put it on a group that was discussing this? I’ll reference your screen name here if you like.

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

Yah. No worries, they come right to your driveway or place of work. They also have a shop and hoist in Kelowna for some limited work (not sure what though).

Yah for sure. It’s probably a few years away and who knows things may change by then. Age will play into it as well. Time will tell.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agreed and that’s the long term strategy. Great company and talented people but not the right fit for us anymore. Cheers.

Oh I think it’s great that he values free speech the way he does. But he doesn’t have the skill set to temper his aspirations with reality. I think he did at one time, but no longer. And that’s fine. But not in a public company. People get nervous investing in companies with loose cannon CEO’s...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I tend to agree. Elon is a decent, smart hard working guy who feels his free speech is worth more than the financial consequences of him saying and doing whatever he wants. A true stand up guy who doesn’t pull punches or play games no matter what the consequences. I like him. And I hope the...

    FSD discussion

No talk about FSD (or the lack thereof). At some point they need to rip the bandage off and indicate it’s not going as planned. Long term it will be better if they fess up now.
  32. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think there would be a market for a 400 mile model Y. Wether it makes business sense to tesla to do this is another thing.
  33. W

    FSD discussion

Performing well? In what universe. I’m starting to think that FSD software is very different dependant on the region. We are definitely not seeing any progress towards a level 4 autonomy system here.
  34. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah I agree. I don’t keep up with this stuff as much as a shareholder should but I would guess maybe some kind of supply chain issues. Only so many cells available??? No idea really.
  35. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

We run into a lot of folks who are waiting to order a model 3 long range. Are they waiting in vane or will tesla build these again once their is enough pent up demand. The whole situation seems weird. Is it a battery cell shortage that shut down production of the 3LR? I don’t stay up on this...

    FSD discussion

Much less than you. Probably on average 200 to 300 kilometres per week. Mix of highway city. It behaves well on highways. Not so well in the city. We use it as much as we can and intervene and report as often as needed. It’s a long way from any kind of level 4 or robotaxi. But is an effective...
  37. W

    FSD discussion

Yep. Anyone that spends some time in an FSD car knows it is no where close to a robotaxi level. Check back next decade….maybe.
  38. W

    FSD discussion

Exactly. And as cool as FSD is it is absolutely no where close to being autonomous. That is years away.

Are they actually still building semis other than the original 38?

Towing with the new 16v battery

Ok thanks. Ours is a 2022 and has the 22 volt but I think we were on the cusp. Re the charge line to the trailer battery. I have heard that this is either disabled or stepped down on the 16 volt cars. And Input on that? Thanks again.
  42. W

Towing with the new 16v battery

Thank you for that quick response. I’m trying to help someone with their install. I recommended our Tekonsha that we have in our model Y but ours has the 12 volt. Our friends have the 16 volt so was wondering if it was going to be a problem.
  43. W

Towing with the new 16v battery

Howdy. Sorry for the late question. Is your tesla equipped with a 16 volt battery? If so what kind of brake controller did you install? Thank you.
  44. W

    Mexico Superchargers

Pretty quiet as far as new superchargers. I thought the Monterrey factory would spawn a series of new supercharger announcements in Mexico. They definitely need a solid and reliable corridor down the west coast from Mexicali to Mazatlan and Guad. Weird.
