    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Ordered 10/10/19, MS LR Red, white/black interior, 19 carbon wheels Originally told expect delivery in December, but got an update a week later that it was in transit from the factory, delivery appointment scheduled 10/24/19. Suspect they found one already in production that matched my specs.

    New Model S Delivery Date

I ordered my new LR Model S Oct 10, and a week later got an update that it was in transit to my delivery center. Appointment to pick it up on Oct 24th. I suspect that a car with my specs just happened to be in production when I ordered. They originally told me not to expect it until December...

Lobbyist for tesla/uber gave me the timeline for FSD

I agree that true FSD is probably still years away, especially as a legal option for driving. You should evaluate spending the $6K on what it gets you now - Nav on Autopilot, Summon (and "soon", Smart Summon), Autopark, etc., and an upgrade to the new FSD chip (if you have an older car). I...

MCU1 performance improvement & browser improvement. Simple trick by Thomas The Tesla Tuner..

I've tried both methods to improve performance (paint app or traffic off), and traffic off gives me the best performance for Tesla Waze. It's finally usable again :).

After 2.5 happy years, bugs are finally biting me too...

Model S, Dec 15 2016 delivery. I had serious problems with 2019.8.5 with TACC and AP, sudden phantom braking and erratic speed changes. It seemed to get a bit better after a couple weeks. Recently got 2019.12.1.1 and it's much better now (crossing fingers). I don't have the problems posted...

    Autopilot worse after latest Update

Completely agree with you. I also have a Model s 2016 AP2. With 2019.8.5 release I now get sudden braking for no apparent reason, along with acceleration changing small amounts resulting in the jerky ride. The latter has gotten a bit better since the update, but still getting unexpected...

    Software Update 2019.8.x

Got 2019.8.5 last night, updated from 2018.50.6, 2016 AP2 Model S75D. Very disappointed with TACC on the freeway today, lots of phantom breaking. Looks like it was having problem with shadows on the road.

    Software Update 2019.5.x

Thanks, good to know. I've given up rebooting to fix the browser for Waze. Not worth it since it happens so often (release 50.6).

    New FSD details

That is what I was referring to. I purchased Nov 2016 when AP2 hardware was released and they made these claims. I got a check from that lawsuit.

    New FSD details

Actually back in late 2016 when FSD was 1st offered the order page said it would be available by end of 2017 and EAP by end of December 2016. They eventually dropped those statements and later lost a lawsuit over it.

SPINOFF: Did you test drive a Tesla before buying yours?

Yes, I was trying to decide between a Model S or X, so drove both and picked the S.

    Looking at 16 MS 75D

Are you sure that these specs are for a 75D and not a 60? If it is uncorked, then S 75D is 4.2 0-60, improved from 5.2. Also max EPA range is 259. I have a late 2016 MS 75D.

    Tesla service then and now

Don, I got a Tesla loaner at the Tempe center yesterday. They said a loaner had just come back that I could take. Was an older Model S 60.

Scroll wheels won't scroll display selections

Wow, Telsa must have read my concern. Their service rep called to see if I was still having a problem and confirmed correct operation of the display selection :).

Scroll wheels won't scroll display selections

Never mind, need to press the scroll wheel, release, select display, then press again to set. I was not releasing after the first press. Been so long since I changed my settings that I forgot.

Scroll wheels won't scroll display selections

After I press a scroll wheel to select a new display, it won't scroll the selections. It's stuck on the one currently selected. Volume control works. This seems to have happened after I got the 2017.46 update. Anyone else have this problem? I tried rebooting the display a few times, but...

EAP - Does it make sense at all on a lease?

If you want TACC you need to buy EAP. I use TACC consistently for highway driving, especially nice in stop and go traffic. I have not gotten the "phantom" breaking since the more recent updates that others report . I also use full AP a lot on my commute. It allows me to keep a better eye on...

Notable change in 17.34 (folding mirror routines)

Actually, if you fold manually before exiting, they stay folded until you manually unfold even with auto-folding enabled. At least, this worked in my car. Still not a good solution, but could be useful in some situations.

How do you set up your Tesla for long trips? Sunglasses, coolers and app selections oh my!

The Waze phone app will navigate, the Tesla version does not.
  21. azmodls

Do you also mount your phone near the dashboard? If so, why?

The Tesla car nav can't even navigate correctly to some superchargers! I run google or waze navigation on my phone on road trips.

So SilkySmooth never happened now waithing on SomethingSpecial

I wonder if some of the reported issues like this are due to calibration problems? I use AP2 every day in my commute and works well. Especially happy now that they fixed the lane change to be smooth instead of the sudden jerky change.
  23. azmodls

Is there a Tesla Wave or hand sign?

I usually see them on the 101 during my commute, of course going between South Scottsdale and Chandler :). Hard to wave when you are both doing 80 in the HOV and watching traffic.

New to the Tesla Family! What is/was your first Tesla road trip?!

We recently completed our first long distance road trip, 3300mi round trip from Scottsdale AZ, along CA and OR coast to Portland, down through Bend to Crater Lake, over to Las Vegas and back. 24 SuC stops. Our very first trip using SuC was relatively short from Scottsdale to Lake Havasu and...

My silky smooth 320 mile road trip with almost 100% AP control

Bruce is correct. I usually run google maps/navigation on my phone in addition to the Tesla nav on long trips. There are many times that Tesla Nav choses a less optimal path than Google navigation.

    RoadTrip and SuperCharger

We just finished a 3300mi roadtrip through CA, OR, NV, and back to AZ. We made 24 different SC stops. Of those, two SC stops had a faulty station, but were able to just move to another station in the row that was functional. No location was completely down. Overall they seem to be very...

    17.26.76

Found that changing lanes by just holding the turn signal short of locking it through the lane change is much less abrupt than if locking for the change, actually much smoother change this way. Need to hold it until fully crossing the line or it will turn back to the original lane.
  29. azmodls

    17.26.76

Lane changes are extremely abrupt for me, to the point that my wife does not want me to use it when she's with me. I have been locking the turn signal on until completing the change. Is it "smoother", less abrupt if just holding but not locking the signal on? Will try it next chance I get.

    Latest Firmware 17.24.30 (UK)

    Got Silk?

I recently got 17.24.28 for my AP2 75D, only because I had service from a Tesla Ranger who gave it to me. While I don't yet have a lot of time driving with AP enabled, it does turn smoother on curves. Changing lanes is much more abrupt than before. It takes a sudden turn into the next lane. I...

    Autopark in your own garage

I know this is not what the OP wants, but mine opens the garage door as I approach, then I just back in watching the center display with parking lines to guide me in. Much quicker than trying to engage summon and waiting for it to slowly crawl in. Also, I back in from a perpendicular position...

Okay it's next month....where is our smoooooth as silk

I got the 17.24.48 release today. Was uploaded by a Tesla Ranger that came to my office to fix a minor problem with my car. Haven't had time to try it yet, had to wait until I got home to activate the install. Release notes are same as for 17.22.46.

    12,000 Mile Road Trip

Thanks for your trip commentary! I'll be making my first long road trip in early July for two weeks from Phoenix to Portland OR in a 75D, about 3,300mi along the west coast and back through Nevada. It helps to read about other long trips for preparation. One of my stops will be in Eureka where...

    Phoenix AZ Experience

I have a 75D also 4 months, so have not yet experienced the summer heat (although getting to 100 this weekend). Other AZ owners I've heard from don't have any complaints about summer heat affecting the car. I used Tesla ranger service once for a minor repair, came out to my workplace in...

    AP2 Autopark Video

I just got the update last night with AP2 autopark. Tried it today, and it worked amazingly well. I doubt I could have done it any quicker and smoother myself. Very cool. Drive just past the open spot, it flashed a P on the front display, put it into reverse, touch the start botton on the...

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

Just to follow-up, Ranger found that the rubber seal at the base of the steering column was bent causing the rubbing noise. He re-seated and lubricated, no noise now :). I was very impressed with the responsive service and the technician.

    TACC on AP2 experience

The 17.5.28 TACC is working better for me than the last release. I was getting very hard braking occasionally when I went under a certain overpass, now it just hesitates a bit instead which is an improvement. The 80 mph upgrade let's me cruise at the speed I'm used to (just a bit over 75) for...

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

My steering wheel sometimes makes what sounds like a rubbing noise when I turn it. At first I thought it was coming from the tires, but it's coming from the steering column. Anyone else with this issue? I usually notice it in the morning when I first start driving. I plan to call the service...
