New Brake Pads on P3D - Much Firmer!

How are the pads working out on the street? Which brand/model are they?
  2. M

    Rear deck cutout

The air does not flow back into the car after exiting the rear vents....vents are nothing new in cars...been around for ages. You simply can't pump air into a sealed box efficiently. The only thing unusual about the Model 3 in this regard is the large deck cut out...I've never seen that...

    Wood strip maintenance?

Hmm, I was thinking of mineral oil but having second thoughts based on @Nikola's comment. I'm not worried about it....if it starts looking bad I'm sure Tesla will replace or by then there will be tons of aftermarket options for replacement or existing wraps.

OP Thanks for posting up a picture and @Joe Car Stuff thanks for the discount code. Just ordered front and rear set.

Chuckie, I found this pic (borrowed from another thread) which shows the left side vent...on the side of the car behind the rear bumper cover.

    v50.6 Collision Warning & Audio

Immersion has always had three settings since I've owned my 3, off, standard, and high or something like that. It does seem to reset back to standard after software update for some reason. I have 50.6 and have not noticed any collision warnings. Did you check to see if your setting somehow...

3P+ Spoiler Appointment for this weekend!

No due bill here...didn't think to request it at delivery. I think I read in another thread that Tesla reassured another buyer that it is in their file and they will get it. I completely trust that this is the case, so I'm not worrying about it.

Reducing noise and keeping the door sills clean

So looking around my door jambs I noticed this unplugged hole on the driver's door jamb just below the hinge. You can see straight through the wheel well and to the ground. Anyone else have this? The passenger side has a rubber plug in this hole. Stuff like this can certainly add to noise I...

How to interpret the Regen Dots

In my experience anything over 80 gets some regen dots even at mild temps in the 60F's. But as the OP postulates, having a few dots on your indicator doesn't mean you are losing regen necessarily. Not sure what the obsession with regen is on this forum. The hypermilers will tell you higher...

Understanding the origin and nature of Vampire Drain.

I also read something that a three year old Leaf had lost 50% of it's capacity. This won't happen with a Tesla. It has a very sophisticated BMS which individually tests and balances cells...I am guessing that this a big component of 'vampire drain', along with the four bluetooth radios, wifi...

    Wind noise seems somewhat obtrusive

I don't know but it looks to be no cheaper than RPM Telsa and with RPM you already have the product cut to the right length without spending a lot of time testing what length is correct and you have the tube joined as well. RPMs product looks to be hollow to me.

Reducing noise and keeping the door sills clean

Ok, just received the sunshades from Tesla. Might be a stupid question as they seem quite simple, but any install tips or advice? I'm going to wait till the wind dies down here and do a sound test of my car to get a baseline before doing any mods.

    Battery Replacement

After reading the referenced PDF they have initiated a service campaign. A recall has a distinct legal meaning and involves an agreement or mandate from the government that a certain action takes place.

    Rear deck cutout

The vents in the carpet are indeed at the top on each side but the vents to the exterior are low down behind the bumper on each side. Wouldn't make sense to have a vent on the top of the trunk where water could flow in.

    Rear deck cutout

How did the Noico turn out? Did you get any measurable noise reduction?

Tesla Corsa 2nd Event is Jan 27th!

Great news! Glad to hear it. Dealing with brake issues was always one of the hassles for me in tracking my BMW M3. Either driving day to day with the pad deposits (vibration) or swapping pads before and after the event, along with all the other prep required.
  22. M

    Rear deck cutout

. Well the interior sound of the Model 3 is clearly wrong judging by the number of people complaining about it. We're simply trying to make some improvements. Thanks for contributing your thoughts to that end.

    Rear deck cutout

I never said sealing it air tight was a good idea, in fact I think earlier in this thread I said the opposite. I also never said that other cars don't have vents, but I have never seen a hole this large. So I guess the question is....are the cars without the baffle missing something or was the...
  24. M

    Rear deck cutout

The first post in this thread shows a sound baffle that was provided from the factory, indicating that perhaps Tesla had a shortage of these and that's why many of us have a big hole in the rear deck. Perhaps holes in the rear deck are a Volvo thing, but they are not anything I've seen in the...
  25. M

    Rear deck cutout

ok but you saw the picture above with the baffle inserted from the factory right? Every other car I've owned seems to have figured out airflow without a huge cutout in the trunk. Shrug.

Tesla Corsa 2nd Event is Jan 27th!

So I'm curious, did anyone have pad deposits on their rotors after the event? Vibrating brakes? This was a common occurrence with BMWs that were tracked hard with the stock pads.

Model 3 acceleration from a roll

The steering has three settings, comfort, standard and sport or something like that. I use standard and think the weight feels great.

How to interpret the Regen Dots

If SOC is >80% I will see a few regen dots when temps are in the 50s and 60s. 50s are cool here ;-)

    Vampire Drain/Loss Tracking

So when does the Battery Management System (BMS) do all of it's cell by cell balancing work? Perhaps this whole vampire thing is simply the BMS doing it's job?

Reducing noise and keeping the door sills clean

I might try this on the forward portion of the rear sunroof, but I like the light coming through on the front. By the way, this insulation looks like what is inside the door panels.

I wonder if it's possible to request one of these from Tesla?

    California vehicle rebate

I emailed the woman that coordinated my delivery pickup time and she emailed them to me within a day. Not sure why Tesla isn't uploading these to our account pages.

Reducing noise and keeping the door sills clean

I hear what you are saying on blocking that port. I don't think it is solely for subwoofer as I recall a diagram showing air ventilation through the port and then out the vents in the trunk. Without that ventilation HVAC system may have to work much harder to push air into the cabin. The...

Reducing noise and keeping the door sills clean

Yeap I hear ya on the Noico...not even sure that's the best material for noise reduction either. From what I've read some type of closed cell foam is typically best. On other threads I have seen Noico applied in the trunk and the wheel wells and the poster didn't seem too pleased with the...

Reducing noise and keeping the door sills clean

Hey Brad, thanks again, I ordered the seals but have not had a chance to install. I noticed in one of your pictures that your interior door panel has the same gaps as mine do that I noted in this thread: Interior door panel gaps Just curious if you think this could be another area of noise...

    Only $40,600 trade-in value on my one-month-new 3 w/ 1,400 miles!

Selling a $30k+ used car to a private party takes time. My Audi S4 ad went un-responded to for two weeks before the buyer appeared and paid my full asking price (top of KBB retail used price). Selling a previous BMW M3 took even longer, almost a month as I recall, but for top dollar. I...

Feature Request: Automatically Lock Doors with Easy Entry

The model 3 has auto lock and like most cars it locks when you start moving. Presumably this is so the car doesn't lock before all of your passengers have a chance to get in.

    Rear Glass Sunshade

I'm sure it will be fine, but I have no doubt it will impair the ability to spot the Highway Patrol from a long distance away. If it improves the acoustics, it will be a reasonable trade off.

    Interior door panel gaps

the interior of the door has a plastic panel (basically the interior of the door which you see when seated in the car). This is attached to the metal part of the door with numerous clips and screws. On every other car I've owned, the plastic piece is pressed flush against the metal. In my car...
