How did you escalate? Does it really matter if ultimately you’re taking delivery in a few days? In other words, if you hadn’t escalated it would they have suddenly noticed that you didn’t have a VIN and not schedule delivery?

Still no VIN. 9/22 delivery. Either everything is fine, or the dude is going to call me at the 11th hour to say the car isn’t here. It’s almost as if they just shuttle a ton of cars to regions, see where they land, then match them up to people. If they don’t march, it’s a delayed delivery.

I'm scheduled for a delivery on Saturday Sept 22. I have heard nothing, no email, no call, no VIN, no car, no delivery specialist. But I've called a few times and the person I talk to says this is normal.

Not bad — just a couple-day delay. I’m guessing the closer we get to the 22nd, the more unlikely it will be that people will get the “delay” call simply because they’d know by now if it was going to make it to the east coast on time.

It could be because I elected to pay cash, so they're "punishing" me by assigning it at the last second, since I don't really need it beforehand. That's my guess.

Heard back from my assigned Delivery Advisor/Scheduler, who backed up what my local delivery center said. This is the new way, and a VIN could be assigned as little as 48hr before delivery.

It's inconsistent and changing. It's tied to when your account gets a VIN/MVPA assigned. When that happens, the back door link stops working. But they now assign VIN/MVPAs very late (as little as 48hr before taking delivery), and the back door will work all the way up to that point.

Called local delivery center and he said not having a VIN yet is “the new process” and that if I haven’t heard anything about rescheduling, I should be good to go and I’ll hear about my VIN as close as 48 hours before taking delivery. I’m paying cash, so it’s not a big deal, but still. Nerves.

Sucks that every person is basically setting a new precedent :(
