Price just increased above the magic $55,000 threshold for government credits. No credits from feds and provincial governments $8,000 worth of credits in BC.
Went for a test drive the other day my order arrives in January. Car drives very heavy (cause it is) assuming the shocks might need a replacement at some point over the next 20 years as well.
Most Toyota’s are good for 20 years.
I suspect the battery degradation curve will go up substantially at some point. Kind of unknown at this time though. Huge revenue stream for Tesla as some point though.
Lack of moving parts is a biggie. Used parts/electrical components will likely become cheap over the next decade or so which will keep these things running on the road.
The more and more i think of it, this will likely require a battery swap out and that is it.
A few repairs here and there. Not enough to retire the car though. Assuming with an M3 it will be the same unless rust or major structural issues occur.
Maybe poll/question need some fine tuning.
Will a Model 3 SR+ last 20 years with driving on average 15,000 km/year (10,000 miles/year). The car should easily run 300,000 km but will the battery decline (due simply to age) that the battery needs to be replaced at some point?
In vancouver area and just got a quote for $2000 for $300 deductible and $2 million coverage for a M3 sr+. i am a perfect driver, never a ticket or claim over 25 years. Wife is the same over 10 years.
previous 2005 Nissan was comparable.
Thanks for the clarrification. Fairly new with the EV thing but recommended distance vs. max distance are vastly different. This is the one thing that has irked me with the EV market.
Not sure about that. I ordered a bare-bones Model 3in Mid-Sept and they quoted me February delivery. Seems in the last 2 weeks the delivery date for new cars has moved an additional 2 months.
Design and specification changes between Tesla Model 3 2018 and 2020 model years and between LR AWD and SR+ models
great article. Lots of small changes.
