    Dartford Delivery experiences

My post-COVID Dartford experience was good. There were new Model 3s everywhere and more car lorries parked up outside. We squeezed our way to a little desk outside (it was a very sunny day). One person was being seen in front of me but soon left. I gave them my name and driving licence and five...

    Octopus smart meter installation

Does anyone know any energy supplier installing smart meters in London? Currently with Igloo whose rollout hasn't got to London yet, but neither had any of my previous suppliers. Is there anyway of getting a smart meter quickly (even if it means paying an uncompetitive rate with someone for a bit)?

Collected the M3P! First impressions and a few questions

Also remember that CCS in many ways is a Type 2 connector, it just has an extra two pins at the bottom. It doesn’t really feel like two different options once you get the car. The vast majority of AC chargers are Type 2 and the vast majority of DC chargers are CCS. You just plug in and go...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

BIG tip from me. Restart docker (or the device running it) when the car appears in the app. It didn't 'just work' by itself for me when I had Teslamate up and running and waiting for the car. It just required a simple restart. But frustratingly (from an OCD perspective) it means I didn't...

Kerbed Alloy Wheels - Touch-Up Paint

I got this and it is absolutely perfect for the Aeros. Unfortunately it has had a bit more usage than I wanted/expected!

Model 3 as a music studio (and no home charging)

Can’t comment on the music studio bit but I own in London without access to off street parking and it hasn’t been a problem whatsoever.

Sat Nav showing strange new route calculations

I love my M3, but let's not equivocate, the inability to plot waypoints is stupid and Musk ruling it out on the basis that everyone has a populated calendar with every waypoint each day is also moronic.

Referral Supercharger Miles when you have a leased company car

In my case, the 400 for the referral was never credited. My balance has reduced from my initial 400 for being referred and never gone up for the referral I originated, despite the referral page clearly showing that referral.

Anyone bought/planning to buy Matts swivel screen mount?

Potentially breaking the car to solve a problem that doesn’t exist IMO.
  10. hingus2000

Referral Supercharger Miles when you have a leased company car

This sounds like a slightly different situation: you were trying to apply a referral code for the purchase of your car (or the lease company's car). Although I still think the miles should be yours, there is a greater argument that these miles attach to the purchase and so the lease company...

Referral Supercharger Miles when you have a leased company car

I have similar in so far as I have a referral that has been delivered but the supercharging credit is not showing against my account. I only have the credits I received initially for being referred myself. I don’t know whether I’ll be charged when these are used up or if the referral miles will...

Unpleasant Experience nearly running out of charge on M6

I think it’s a shame that the trip consumption graph is hidden away in the menus and to bring it up obscures the navigation. From a UI perspective it would be nice to be able to see both.

    Condensation in rear lights

Same as my experience. Can’t believe how quick it was. There was no condensation showing when the Ranger came but he replaced without query.

    [UK] 2020.32.x

Apparently dynamic brake lights have been standard in Europe for over a year anyway? I can’t say I’ve been able to test. Can anyone confirm? https://twitter.com/teslastars/status/1292471976162926593?s=21

    Cabin overheat protection

It is the interior temprature which controls whether it comes on. In my experience it comes on if internal temperatures rise above 38C and maintains that temperature. The car easily gets to 40C on the inside even with modest (low 20s) sunshine in the UK.

Luxury Car Tax RIP - Budget 2020

Hi mate - is this a new lease (so they are altering the quote), or is it an existing lease? If existing, those of us also with ZenAuto presumably should be dropping them a line?
  17. hingus2000

    Can someone persuade me?

I know everyone's circumstances are different but we do a similar mileage to you and I am yet to have a situation where the car is sat there with too little charge to make an emergency drive and we don't even have off-street parking or home charging. A couple of times we've arrived from a long...

    Spotify

This is what we do. Works quite well when you’re not quite sure what to listen to. Just pick one song and let Spotify do the rest. It reads as “[Track name] Radio” on the car display.

    Snippiness 2.0

LOL. Absolutely pathetic. You can validly disagree without getting your knickers in a twist. Why so angry?

Holiday rentals - Do you ask if it’s ok to charge?

Interesting thread. I wonder how far we are from "roaming" electricity tariffs. I live in a flat so can't charge from home, but we regularly visit the in-laws in the country, where I occasionally plug the car in and explain it away to the father-in-law that it might cost him £3-4 for the day...

    Keyless Theft

As far as I understand, the app saying “Key - Connected” is not the same as the car being unlocked. It means the app is in Bluetooth communication range (which I assume it uses communicating actions directly such as opening the boot, as opposed to sending an instruction over the internet), but...

    I love the Tesla Acceleration

I have a leased LR so don't really have a proper Loot Box on my app. Is there any way I could purchase the upgrade if I wanted to? And so in addition to just increased acceleration, do I read above that it also unlocks 'Sport' mode?

    Navigation Update 2020

What a palaver! I'm guessing they sensed possible liability issues with the several reports of random 60 limits through villages! Would it kill them just to get this right in a £50k car!?

    Condensation in rear lights

I have bad condensation in my left tail light too. I added it to an upcoming mobile service appointment and a message from Tesla seems to suggest they will fix it on the spot.

Congestion charge exemption, do you need to register your car?

After nearly three weeks with TfL, my CC exemption (for a Tesla)...has been rejected. My lease company only provided a DVLA database return and a letter confirming it was a leased vehicle and apparently this wasn't sufficient. They must have the V5C. What an absolute shower.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Main piece of advice is restart the Pi once the car is added to your app. It won't automatically pick it up at first without a restart.

UK accessories for RHD Model 3 [megathread]

Has anyone used the non-powered boot/frunk lift struts? Model 3: Trunk Automatic-open Set (Soft-opening) The powered version is more complicated than I am interested in, but how easy is it to replace the struts with the spring loaded ones which are capable of raising the boot/frunk themselves...

    Speed in kilometres per hour?

It does switch everything automatically in terms of Autopilot, GPS etc. It doesn't change your units of measurement because that is an entirely personal choice. i don't think it is an automatic assumption that just because you're travelling on the continent you want to swap to KPH. And if you...

    Great Portable Router for M3

    Cheap Frunk Hooks - Recommended

So my cheap frunk hooks arrived today and I am having some trouble installing them. They just don't seem to want to click into place, and when one of them does somewhat click into place (and looks flush with the frunk) it only requires a tiny bit off effort to dislodge it (so would be no good to...

    [UK] 2020.28.x

Elon Says Level 5 by the end of the year....

Every time I drive, I make a mental note of things I think an automatic vehicle just couldn't do at the moment. Roadworks which change a road layout for an afternoon; letting someone through a gap; responding to someone letting you go, etc. If everything is 100% vanilla, I'm sure the technology...

    2020.28.1

Navigation desperately needs updating. For those that know London: Highbury corner is still showing as a roundabout despite having been converted to a (very complex) junction system well over a year ago.

    2020.24.6

20.24.6 seems to have broken my SD card setup. Not recognising it as plugged in. I’ve tried with and without my USB hub and all the different ports. Will try reformatting using my computer.

UK accessories for RHD Model 3 [megathread]

I've bought a cheap set off Alibaba, I'm guessing they may not have this function. Will report back once they arrive. If it is a problem I'll swap them out of the footwell and into another location and replace them with the AO versions.

Congestion charge exemption, do you need to register your car?

How long did people have to wait for their CC exemption to be confirmed? I submitted the application 30 June and still waiting! Have had to put off two trips into town because of it.

    Charging Advice Needed

As an M3 driver with a similar modest mileage and no access to charging at home due to street parking, I’ve been amazed by how little it has mattered. In fact, charging is still a complete novelty each time I get to do it. If you are able to use the 3-pin each night you’re completely fine...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Would adding the 83 miles, driven on my collection date, work in a similar way? Don't care about detailed stats within those 83 miles, but just for the sake of completeness of totals. No need to provide the code, I'll have a go at it (and might check my working on here), but interested to...

UK accessories for RHD Model 3 [megathread]

For those with the Taptes wireless charger. How firmly should it sit in the console cradle? I'm finding mine doesn't "pop-in" as such and just rests there. It's fine, but relatively easy to dislodge. Is this just the way it is, or have I failed to fit in properly?

If I book a SC visit does that mean I actually have to visit a SC? Just a bit of a cost/benefit analysis in terms of whether it is worth the effort. It definitely shouldn't have failed, but equally it is a piece of plastic I can re-attach with a bit of glue!
