Firsthand comparison from an owner of both, between the Rivian SUV and Tesla Model X. The only EV 7-seater SUV's available.

Part of the problem with the X is the low weight limit for unsupported racks. It's 120 pounds, which after the weight of the rack mount is factored in, is rather low. The key is to do an aftermarket hitch to alleviate the issue. The factory mount is convenient, but just doesn't hold weight.

    Canada - FSD rollout

FINALLY! I got it with 2022.20.18 yesterday. After taking a rather hairy initial drive in the dark, I've changed a few of the standard settings to "Chill" and reduced the overage on the speed a touch. Whatever the "Normal" setting is for the way it works, I'm damned well wondering what...

    Tire for Canada

    1) Too many variables since you haven't indicated when you plan to sell your car. If you're thinking of selling it in Canada, it might not work since there are certain restrictions (French displayed on warnings, etc) that might prevent you from doing so. It used to be that there was a difference...

    Settings when car is idled

So, once you put the car in park, it takes roughly 15 minutes for the headlights to turn off if you do absolutely nothing. The only other alternative is to get out of the seat and get back into it. The seat sensor helps to determine whether to leave the ancillary functions on.

    Canadian X Refresh Orders

What was your order date? If you have an order that's over a year old, I don't think it applies, however, it's also dependent upon the language of the luxury tax.

    Canada - FSD rollout

2022.20.9 is what I'm at. About 1200km driven, 200km AP over the past 30 days. Thanks for the info on finding it. All I know is that driving on AP through the Toronto-Hamilton corridor with a distance setting of 2 is absolutely unnerving, so have raised it to 3 which seems to be aligned with my...

    Canada - FSD rollout

Is there any way of telling exactly how far you've gone on AP? I'm sure I've well passed ALL the minimum requirements with a score sitting at 93 and still nothing.

Delivery of MY LR and/or P regrets ?

The issue, at least to me, is whether the internal damage is done despite the software patch. This is one of those things that unless it breaks or Tesla is willing to spend an inordinate amount of time and money looking into, we simply won't know until it's too late.

None that I would comment on in a public forum at this point...

    Canada - FSD rollout

Technically, I've waited for 6+ years, I've only had the opportunity to "apply" for the beta since 2020 due to it only being open to the US previously as well as hardware/software requirements that needed updating. Yes, it's improved since I've first got AutoPilot, but am surprised that I've not...

    Canada - FSD rollout

Well, lo and behold I got an update. I'm now at 2022.20.9. Still no invite for the FSD beta. Still sucks.

2022 Tesla Model X LR Range Test (Out of Spec)

Not including at least a 400 mile range is a mistake, I think. Seeing the cancelled S Plaid+ with - what? 800 miles of range had me seriously considering it.
  13. T

    Canada - FSD rollout

LOL. I'm on 2022.20.8, so no, I'm behind in all regards - dunno why as I've had "Advanced" on since the get-go. I must've PO'ed someone at the top at some point. Still sucks.

Model X Windshield - heating elements?

Heated windshield maybe, but it wouldn't be perfectly horizontal across the windshield if the wipers themselves were heated.
  15. T

    Canada - FSD rollout

Uh...nope....still nothing - as usual despite a score of 93. This sucks.

Just out of curiosity, has ANYONE taken delivery of a Model X refresh in Europe?
  17. T

know any good tire shop in central North York that swap tesla winter tires?

Just avoid Active Green and Ross. I just had a tire replaced by Tesla (flat tire with damage to the sidewall), but tried to get a quote from AGR who are nearby. They would only sell me a set of 4 because "it's recommended by the manufacturer" and "it'll damage the transmission". Even though I...

Delivery of MY LR and/or P regrets ?

On the fence. Didn't need the extra power on the LR, but did add the performance upgrade (software) to compensate. The biggest issue is ride quality - I swear that the Performance had a better ride. Still prefer the LR overall. Of course, other regrets will always happen down the road as Tesla...

    Supercharger - Etobicoke ON

It appears your wishes might be coming true...Sherway Gardens Supercharger Upgrade
  21. T

Exactly $63 more a month for MY"P", do it?

You might try one of the Tesla storefronts. I think Sherway might have one for test drives, although quarter ends tend to be an issue with availability.
  22. T

Exactly $63 more a month for MY"P", do it?

If you haven't, then take a drive in each. From the way I see it, the Performance actually seemed to have a better ride than the LR despite the larger wheels.
  23. T

    Supercharger - Etobicoke ON

Any idea what they're upgrading them to? Will they just be higher output or will they also include a CCS handle?

    Canada - FSD rollout

On a brighter note, the sky is falling - I mean it's raining. Time to go and soak one's head in the rain. Meanwhile, I still can't get anywhere near a high enough score to get into the beta - so I'll live vicariously through the ones who do get it.
  25. T

Model X Windshield - heating elements?

So, this morning there was a light rain and initially I thought that perhaps the windshield had cracked. However, closer inspection shows that there are 3 horizontal lines going completely across it (bottom, middle, top). I'm assuming that these are heating elements? You can see each of them by...

2022 Tesla Model X LR Range Test (Out of Spec)

Interesting to see how the Model X did in this test.

Firsthand comparison from an owner of both, between the Rivian SUV and Tesla Model X. The only EV 7-seater SUV's available.

I've had it for a couple of months and find that I still miss the turn signal at times. Although the indent helps to locate the proper areas for each, the switch doesn't always engage. So far as the gear selector - they need to toss that. Too many times it doesn't take input, it's slow to...

Firsthand comparison from an owner of both, between the Rivian SUV and Tesla Model X. The only EV 7-seater SUV's available.

With regards to the turn signal stalks, partially true. The old mechanically ratcheted stalks wouldn't work, but the ones on the 3/Y could still have the software applied to do the same thing as the S/X. Personally, the stalks still make more sense than the buttons as 1) they stay relative to...

Model Y Toronto - Mud flaps and PPF?

Didn't get it with ours, however, we did get a free kit from Tesla earlier this year - something I believe they promoted and sent out through email to owners.

    Supercharger - Etobicoke ON

There are 250kW chargers nearby (sort of) at the Exhibition grounds under Hotel X. They do charge for parking entry by my understanding of it. I'll wait until after the CNE to give it a try myself.
  31. T

High Usage Site - charging limited to 80% SOC

At this point, it's an assumption. That said, in general the SCs are getting busier so it's probably going to be limited across most locations. As long as you know that you can override it, you should be good to go. A part of it probably has to do with the extra time it takes going from 80 to...

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

The issue with reliability is that it's always a moving target. I think that my 2016 Model S would have held up much worse than the 2017. In turn, when I had a 2015 Model S, it was a major step backward in so many ways - starting with horrendously bad seats. I think Tesla is working towards...

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

I'll answer #2) Misalignment has been noted that causes this. Tesla also has put PPF or something similar to help prevent this which happened (I think) on a specific model year. #3) Model Xs have been noted for creaks, groans and rattles. Thus far, my new one hasn't but then again - it's new...

2022 BMW X5M Comp or MX Plaid

Sorry, I'm not qualified to answer whether you're sane or not. X5M vs X Plaid? Up to you in the end but if you've not test driven both, you might regret it. Best of luck with your decision.

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

I know this is probably something you did, but if the charge cable isn't properly seated, it can give this message. Might also want to reboot if all else fails. Check the handle of the charger and make sure that the connectors inside look good. It may be the charger itself, but that's doubtful -...

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

Apparently, it's already in place. I'm unsure whether it's in effect everywhere. I didn't get rerouted even though the south Barrie chargers were full. It's unclear what the circumstances are for this to work. I'm on 2022.20.7 Tesla navigation can reroute you to less busy Superchargers

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

Made the round trip in just under 5 hours of driving today. Overall, Saturdays are better than Sunday drives (especially the returns). Best to start out in the mornings both ways if possible. Afternoons get far heavier in both directions. Part of the slow go around Barrie is due to ongoing...

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

I'm heading up and back on Saturday (picking up my daughter from camp), so we won't need to come to blows. 😂 If you're planning for charging around Barrie, watch the display and see whether you get a clock/timer on the charger pin on the map. I used the southern one (8 stalls) on the way up...

Canadian Model S and X Owner Thoughts...

@Struja All I can say is you're perspective isn't dissimilar to mine in so many ways. I originally had a 2016 for 9 months before a crash wrote it off. During that time, I had a feeling that the pack was insufficient and suffers from premature degradation, there were telltale signs of suspension...

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

It's on Tesla's charging map, it's near the Oakville Service Centre, so yeah odds are it'll happen. The gamble is exactly where and when it'll open even though it says Q4 2022 - it's dependent upon planning approval, site negotiations, contractors and Tesla's whims. Long and short - look for...

Firsthand comparison from an owner of both, between the Rivian SUV and Tesla Model X. The only EV 7-seater SUV's available.

One thing Tesla will have to add is queuing - for those who have to wait, it'll control and prevent people from cutting to the front of the line opportunistically.

Firsthand comparison from an owner of both, between the Rivian SUV and Tesla Model X. The only EV 7-seater SUV's available.

I'm hopeful of this, although I also think that if they want to have an immediate impact, the solution will be to open up and convert the existing chargers. Simply getting through permits, planning and the other steps seems to take an inordinate amount of time. Agree with the rest, although it...

Firsthand comparison from an owner of both, between the Rivian SUV and Tesla Model X. The only EV 7-seater SUV's available.

So, @everydaychris and @Unclepaul one of the key points you say is, essentially, Tesla's Supercharger network. If Tesla does indeed open it up to others, does that change your opinion? I ask this, because the current charging infrastructure of everyone other than Tesla is what might hold me...

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

They also need to fill in a few more stops toward the north/cottage country/Muskoka. The existing chargers are getting full quickly now. They also need to upgrade to the 250kWh chargers as the A/B pairings on the 150kWh chargers really slow things down.

IVY Ontario Enroute Tesla Chademo Innisfill?

Having traveled the past few weekends between Toronto and Muskoka, those 28 chargers are getting WELL used. Full at lower Barrie (8 150kWh chargers) on the way up, full at Vaughan Mills (20 150kWh chargers) on the way back. The only issue with the Upper Barrie chargers is that it's a bit of a...

Toronto to Claryville, NY next month.

My only issue with any routing is dependent upon what happens at the border. While not a bad plan to charge before going across the border, if you get stuck in an hour or more worth of border traffic, you might have to do a little creative replanning. Thankfully there are options on both sides -...
