Would you do it all over again?

I got lucky to find a stealth model in inventory last October and would 100% buy one (Or any M3 or MS) again based what I know now. I’m also lucky to have never needed to contact Tesla since pickup and don’t have any issues with my car (outside of kerbed alloys ) - not even wind noise. It...

    Rear speakers popping.

I’ll answer my own question in case somebody has the same issue. The problem was still there this morning and another re-boot didn’t help. After I came back from my drive I got the option to upgrade to 2020.28.6 and once it had finished I’ve checked and cannot re-create the problem. I’ll...

    Rear speakers popping.

Hi - I’m hopping that one of you have had this issue and have a DIY answer as it’ll be great to have a fix before going to France on Friday. I’ve seen a number of posts on this on various forums (including US version of this) but no conclusive answer - symptoms are sound coming from rear door...

Advice for a Teslanaut embarking on a mission to Europe

Yes, that is the default now. If they run out of space on the single deck then they are prepared to book you on the double deck carriages - I was seeing no availability with my Frequent traveller tickets for the August BH weekend and so volunteering for the double deck section was the only...

Advice for a Teslanaut embarking on a mission to Europe

I’m in France this weekend and nipped into an Aldi today to buy a few things but mainly to check out how their chargers work - getting some free power is a bonus. It was dead easy to use and there was a healthy 22KW output. When I came to disconnect I got a shock that I could just press the...

    Software testing

I’m another on here with loads of years of experience in software development (40 years since coding on my Acorn Atom in my bedroom). I support many of the comments above - we are choosing to be alpha/beta testers of the software using the advance setting for updates and I personally expect...

    How did this happen?

A couple of thoughts from me..... there have been a number of cars broken into in Twickenham by a person/people just looking for money - I also live in Twickenham and have a video of somebody taking coins from my other car a few months ago (it wasn’t me who left it unlocked). Are you aware that...

    Speed in kilometres per hour?

Just to let you know that if you keep to mph then the screen converts the current speed limit into mph I.e. 31mph (50km/h) in villages, 50mph (80 km/h on National roads etc...... I previously read that the car automatically changes headlights when on the continent- I’ve never checked but have...

What can I expect on a test drive?

If you are going with a partner don’t scare them witless with the acceleration/speed. I test drove a model S In 2016 and my wife couldn’t sleep properly for the following 3 nights and we ended up taking our deposit back. Time was a good healer and when I explained that a Model 3 doesn’t have...

    Eurotunnel - three excuses

I hope they have briefed all of their staff now. One time the guy allocating cars into the queuing lanes for the single deck sent me to the furthest lane. It seems to be a lane of shame as all other vans etc... loaded and then I was allowed to proceed- I was then routed to the double deck...

    Eurotunnel - three excuses

I was told this too - rep suggested it cost them £8k and they aren’t going to take any chances with any Teslas. Single deck is a much better place to be imho.

    Fake M3P

I have one of these models - I prefer the term stealth rather than minus :) but I can see those with the genuine P model would call them minus. Personally I was pleased to find one in inventory last October as I prefer smaller alloys when commuting into London. V5 and (unfortunately)...

Road Trip - Charging in France & Spain

I’ve been using the tags for 15 years and never bothered to attach them to the windscreen. We just hold it up to the window when it’s needed. Works every time - even thru the non-stopping lanes.

    Glass cleaning

I’ve found the Karcher window vac a useful tool for drying the window/roof/window but not heard it mentioned on here before. I’ll stop using Rain-X afterwards, now I know it’s effectively banned.

FYI - Today I got an email to say they can start installs again and I’ve booked for next week. It’ll be good to be moved over before the return to office and the daily use of the car again .

Opinions wanted for my second car

Thanks again for the feedback which I considered - and the VW hate did help influence me. I periodically need to do a 140mile trip and although my Tesla is always going to be first choice I thought I should get a car which should be able to get me there without stopping. This ruled out the i3...

Opinions wanted for my second car

I’m hoping you can help me make a decision - especially those who’ve had or have a non-Tesla EV. I’ve decided to commit to my 2nd car being 100% electric as well but I’m struggling to decide on which car. I’m going to rely on my M3 for the long journeys and the advantage of the SC network...

    Fellow car cleaning obsessives...

If you’ve already bought enough cleaning products then stop reading my post now. Before I picked up my Tesla I wasn’t aware of this UK forum and I was reading the US forum and found a discussion on “must have’s” and I’m sure many people said you should purchase these UV wipes. I did but have...

    ICE disappointment

I absolutely agree with your thoughts. I think the need to improve the fuel consumption figures on ICE cars mean they are feeling slower over time. I got a loan auto Audi R8 when my manual Porsche 911 was having some body work repairs. The lag when I put my foot down at 30mph was genuinely...

    Is the boot seal worthwhile?

That’s a neat job. If the lockdown goes on much longer I’ll no doubt get bored and do the same. I ended up fitting all of the seal and it doesn’t look as bad as the image I posted above. Next job for me was Mud flaps and I used offcuts from the door seals between the flaps and the body...

    Is the boot seal worthwhile?

Thanks tj - I’ll take a look at that later. Here is what I saw on a YouTube video, for fitting them, that I think looks so cheap and nasty - I wouldn’t be happy to open my boot and see that every time.

    Is the boot seal worthwhile?

I’m using the lockdown to fit some of the accessories I bought last year and never got around to fitting. I started fitting the seals (Basenor in my case) but I’m not convinced about fitting them in the boot (aka trunk). it looks like it’ll be impossible to make them look neat as there are...

Can you share YOUR “storage” for sentry? What are you using?

I had one of these recommended by a friend who’s had a X for a couple of years. Big bonus for me, as an iPhone user, is that you can just unplug it and download the footage over WiFi to your phone - no need to take it inside and plug into laptop. SanDisk Connect 128 GB Wireless Stick - Black...

    One pedal driving

I agree - in London I don’t tend to use it as when the car drops to about 5mph it feels like phantom braking kicks in.

    One pedal driving

I managed to do my commute into London today without touching the brake pedal or using autopilot. Its only 11 miles but the “degree of difficulty” is quite high IMHO due to the numerous roundabouts and traffic lights. Even though I can see the benefit in power consumed I’m not sure it suits...

Should we chill on long journeys?

Thanks for your thoughts mswlogo. I think your approach is a natural reaction to how you’ve been ripped off by the insurance industry but I couldn’t personally buy a stealth model and go in Chill mode unless there was an upside on range when on a trip that is marginal for the battery. My...

Should we chill on long journeys?

I have to cover 300-400 miles this weekend and shouldn’t have any issues with charging but wondered if putting the car into Chill acceleration mode might give better economy. There seem to be plenty of scientists on here who might be able to give the facts but for others, anecdotally, do you...

    My pod-point experience

Apologies if you already know but you need to turn the nozzle 90 degrees to put it in the holder (and turn it again to get it to stay). I’m going to remove the holder as the nozzle sticks out so far and i think it looks neater to just let it hang down. From my POV my Pod-point order and...

    PIN to drive

My wife couldn’t find her key fob the other week and so I set a PtD as a precaution. A couple of days later I found the key fob in the boot. I’m keeping the PtD as I found it’s no real hassle and I’ve ordered aftermarket bulbs - so, next time, I won’t need to use a torch to find the black...

Eurotunnel - single deck or top deck?

As a fallback, if those in Folkestone are busy on the way out, then there Is a Tesla supercharger station in Calais (with 6 chargers) less than 2 miles after getting off the Eurotunnel.
  43. Doudeau

Eurotunnel - single deck or top deck?

I’ve never seen chargers more than half full and there are often none being used on quiet Friday nights in Folkestone or Sunday afternoons in Calais. This is why I eventually decided to commit to a Tesla in October after taking back my deposit on a Tesla S in early 2016. If it’s not busy you...

Eurotunnel - single deck or top deck?
