Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

More likely just electric power steering. When it was a new thing i encountered many people who assumed, or were even told by misinformed dealers, that meant 'drive by wire' with no mechanical connection, when all it really means is the assistance is provided by an electric actuator rather than...

More old man wood - RPM Tesla centre console

No issues at all for me with the wood - door opens and closes just as smooth as ever. I imagine CF or vinyl is likely thinner so should also be fine. That said RPM Tesla do point out in their videos that some cars may have a manufacturing issue where there is a bur in the plastic frame that does...

2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

None of those EAP features use radar, so if you were to update or not it won't have any effect on those.

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

That new photo much of that speculation is based on is believed to be a test mule cobbled together to test the new platform (aka Model 2) drivetrain. It's clearly a completely different drivetrain - wheels not centred in the arches, smaller brakes with different calipers in different locations...

There will be NO HW4 upgrade for HW3 owners

Why are we speculating how Tesla might offer HW4 upgrades for older cars? They're just not gonna! Definitely the cheapest solution!

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

They likely have months backlog stock to deliver so highly likely you get a current M3 with that date. I don't think anyone is expecting Highland updated cars to be delivered so soon. Also highly doubt your advisor will be able to give you accurate info too - they often aren't aware of changes...

Indicator half press vs full press

I like how it is on auto cancel mode to be honest. In old cars I never thought three blinks was enough - if you start the blinks as early as you really should, the three blinks are pretty well done before you move! So blinking till the manoeuvre is complete, which I find it does pretty reliably...

Does anything need to be changed software side to enable a DIY added OEM trailer wiring module for Model 3?

Ok I guess it was the wording in post 37 'tow bar fitting has been booked' that gave you the impression he took it to Tesla? I just took that as booking his own time, or a friend or mobile mechanic, since as @init6 pointed out, two more posts down it was clearly done on someone's front garden...

[UK] Help with legal case against Tesla over USS

Yeah sounds almost unbelievable you could win a case against an auto parking fender bender just because you believed the advanced tech would do everything perfectly, when the manual clearly spells out the limitations and driver's responsibilities. Tesla defense sounds comically bad and the...

Just Won a Small Claims Case Against Tesla – A Triumph for Autopark Failure Victims!

Wow, they must have sent their worst lawyer if they choked at that question! Would have thought they'd at least try parroting all the disclaimers in the user manual that say you need to keep an eye on it and be ready to intervene! Must say I'm very surprised a case like this could be won given...

Does anything need to be changed software side to enable a DIY added OEM trailer wiring module for Model 3?

Yeah looking closely at the photo OP posted, the number he quotes is above after PART: while the number @majeric used and we can find in the catalogue is below after ASSY:. So i think we are talking about the same thing. Which itself is a little surprising as I half expected the US trailer...

Does anything need to be changed software side to enable a DIY added OEM trailer wiring module for Model 3?

Have another read through @majeric's thread linked in post 16. He has done what you intend to do and all your questions are answered, albeit an experience group of one! :) But someone else in this thread also confirmed the trailer module functions worked without need for coding, so now that's...

    Park Assist and front camera

If you have USS and Park Assist is always disabled then the sensor or controller is broken, so get Tesla to fix it. Camera calibration won't help as they aren't used for Park Assist with USS cars.

Do I need Tow Bar package if I will only use to carry bikes.

I didn't get the vibe that you need to go to Tesla and pay £1200 including fitting. From a very quick search seems there should be aftermarket options available you can fit yourself for much less. Just depends on your appetite and competence for taking apart interior trim and splicing wiring...

Hardware 4 & Steer by Wire Coming to Model 3? | TMC Podcast #44

Unless there is mechanical backup like some systems, part of the redundancy will also be the power supply. Main bat, 12 V bat and maybe even another backup bat (Lexus system has all this). No steer by wire system that provides no steering upon 'normal' loss of electrical power will ever be...

    Possible Model 3 Purchase

Not saying a 2019 can't be a good buy, but depending on how flexible the budget is, and what you can find on the market, I'd seriously consider if you can stretch into a '21 model year refresh car (built approx Nov '20 onwards). Imho, absolutely worth paying more for the longer warranty, heat...

2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

My lines definitely continue to move closer to the car past 30 cm. But they aren't super accurate at such close distances and don't go all the way to touching the car when I would actually contact the object. Not sure they ever did that. Like other cars that go to a continuous beep around 30 cm...

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Anyone expecting step change in range from Highland is gonna be disappointed, imho. This is just a nose job, production cost cutting and a few minor upgrades. There's nothing much to squeeze out of drive drivetrain efficiency or aero efficiency, and they aren't about to squeeze a 100 kWh bat in...

Rumour: Model 3/Y to lose stalks in 2023 model year

Yeah it all looked quite good until I saw the lag in the video. That would feel horrible in spirited/track driving! There is absolutely no way Tesla is doing steer-by-wire in Highland M3 this year! To give Teslascope the benefit of the doubt I'll just say it's lost in translation. All it'll be...

Rumour: Model 3/Y to lose stalks in 2023 model year

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Rumour: Model 3/Y to lose stalks in 2023 model year

Yeah, load of bullcrap trying to spin an 'article' (if a spam storm of tweets is what passes as an article these days) out of all the rumours and speculation we've all heard before. Only things that stood out as new are steer by wire and a bumper cam, neither of which are happening (I'll bet my...

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

If Highland is really having 'steer by wire', it's not the same thing as BMW's old Active Steering at all, albeit both can achieve a variable steering ratio. But I very much doubt Highland is having steer by wire anyway and agree with everything else you say about this dumb Tweet thread! :)

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

    Fully off-grid, central England, how?

Fun project! For creature comforts in winter you're just gonna need alternative primary fuel source - i.e. oil, wood, wind or whatever. How about gas stove with bottled gas for the main cooking? Every holiday cabin here in Norway has a log fire for heating, even though most are on-grid - all...

    Impound (seized) car insurance

    Impound (seized) car insurance

Sounds like you know what you're talking about! So out of interest is that comparethemarket.com article a load of bollox, then? Impound (seized) car insurance

But about this part - can you not just call Direct line as a prospective customer and ask them to clarify the impound yard cover situation? No need to reveal who you are. Sounds like you probably are covered for retrieving your own car. Or just go to the police and blag it 'Yeah officer, I...

    Impound (seized) car insurance

Sounds like po-po won't release it till he shows them the impound yard cover? Just go down there with your regular insurance and offer a 6-pack if the lads push it out onto the road. Then get arrested for bribing a police officer. :)

    Impound (seized) car insurance

For the sake of my motherland I hope you're right! But the comparethemarket.com article linked by the OP also states some policies may not cover the retrieval of your own impounded car. Impound (seized) car insurance

The hell am I reading?! :) So the police can take your car for a variety of reasons, fair enough, but then take it to a specific place where your insurance may not cover it, and then require you to find another insurance that does cover that specific place, just so you can leave that place...

Could it just be load sharing between different chargers? What sort of 'site' is this? We recently started charging ours at my wife's work for the first time and saw something similar. Ah I see. I didn't pay attention to what the max speed was saying. It felt like an appropriate response to the turn, but could just as easily have been a step change in the set max which it gradually reduced to, giving that impression. I'll check next time.

Sort of related, I noticed something very surprising yesterday. I use basic AP a lot on all the windy single lane rural roads round here (don't even have EAP/FSD). HW4 - No Park Assist at all

To avoid confusion, this is Park Assist... Just the beepy beep proximity sensing to assist manual parking. What you seem to be talking about is Autopark, aka self-parking. Autopark has not yet been restored to any vehicles without ultrasonic sensors, either HW3 or HW4.
  44. LiamPope

    Park Assist and front camera

If you have a '21 then you still have ultrasonic sensors (USS) so your Park Assist should work just fine like everyone else's. To be clear, Park Assist is the beepy beeps and distance indicating lines when reversing and manual parking, aka parking sensors. If yours doesn't ever work, get Tesla...

Wood replacement not CF or alcantara

Well I did say I didn't see his point! But I do know - you're right. Thanks! It's a fair point too, but really depends for me. Sometimes I'm willing to get stuff from a reputable seller that stands behind their resold Chinese junk with some customer service. Other times I'll just go direct -...

As above, your obvious plastic wood is real wood, if that changes your opinion. If you like DIY, you could even change the appearance of it - e.g. this guy who sanded, stained and lacquered his to a darker finish... Personally I like the wood and even added more :)... ...and I'm tempted to...

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Not officially of course, but a test driver of a Highland prototype was filmed getting in and driving off. He instinctively moved his right hand to a non-existant stalk, then remembered where he was and swiped the screen to put it into gear instead, then drove off.
